Our case has been stuck at NVC for 3 weeks now. I called and got all 3 numbers, they said it should get sent overseas pretty soon but... here we are, still playing the waiting game. As if almost 8 months for a NOA2 wasn't enough. :clock:

Have you looked at other Bulgaria timelines to see how long they sit at NVC? Some embassies don't receive the files until they have interview appointments available for the next month or 'block' (however they work to timescale) and NVC holds onto these for longer, but once the petition is recieved by the consulate, it progresses faster than those who take over the entire process as soon as the case number is assigned. For example ours left NVC in a few days, but there was about a 6 week gap before the interview date.

That makes sense. I looked up some stats but there are very few cases showing in Bulgaria, based on which it takes around 30 days until the interview once the consulate receives the packet. It's nice compared to the UK, where the average wait is 60 days but then again eventually it all balances out.

Yeah, I didn't actually check before posting, but I've come to notice that there is a different process depending on the consulate once the case number has assigned. This whole process is just so frustrating and stressful, so hopefully it offers you some comfort. There's no good reason for any of us to have waited so long for approval. Here's hoping this last stretch goes quickly for you. It's certainly aged me at least a decade over the past year!

It's not white paper - it's more of a pale gold color, if I recall correctly. I can check when I get back from work later. I didn't even know to look for a watermark, but I will check ours as it came straight from USCIS in the mail to the mailbox.

Sorry to bring this back up but I am still just a bit confused/worried about this. I only received a basic white piece of paper (I-797, notice of action) for the approval. I did not receive the paper that says The United States up top and has lines across the paper. I am just nervous it was sent out and my prior attorney is withholding it. I called USCIS twice and got 2 completely different answers. Ugh. Thank you for any help.

It sounds undoubtedly like you have a copy. The paper is not plain white and there is a pale red watermark in the center of the page. Call up your lawyer and tell them you want the original document. You require this for AOS. The documents are yours, the case is yours and you have a right to insist on it.

Then get rid of the lawyer.

I just had to disappear for a while... it was all getting a bit much for me after the confusion with previous petitions and this seemingly never ending wait but I am happy to say that I have had my interview and was approved. I feel exhausted from it all but so excited that we can finally be together.

Thank you all for your support and goodwill ... congratulations to everyone for your endurance through this process and I hope that if you are not already with your 'other half' that you will be very very soon.

Yes! finally ! thank you ... wow.. I still can't get used to this !! It has been such a wait but we are starting to make plans for the summer and that part is waking me up to the new reality. I called the consulate about something else and they noticed there was a cancellation for the following day .. I was asked if I could be there 10 am the next morning. If I'd had to walk all night I would have done it. Just waiting for my passport now and trying to adjust to the new status.

You aren't far off and you'll be on your way...

Yes, interview on Monday :D

How long does your embassy take, on average, to issue the visa after approval?
