What are you laughing at, you're paying for it! LOL

Good point, I think it calls for a drink then and we can laugh together!

But just think, if he has his way, there will 5-6 million more taxpayers (insert "voters") that you won't have to subsidize! Oh wait, because they'll be legal they'll be entitled to even more subsidies. Damn, more drinks!

If you got kids, medical is the big one. I know some folks where the wife left a part time Walmart job where medical was offered, to work more hours for another smaller company for more money, but no group medical. They hadn't yet enrolled into Covered California because the premiums are still expensive for a family of six and they procrastinated. Husband was working, but adding the wife and kids to his medical was even more expensive. The eldest boy is obese, and ended up at the ER with chest pains and an enlarged heart. Because of his excessive weight, he had to be sent via air ambulance to a different facility 90 miles away. What are you going to do? Go bankrupt, or let your kid die? Tough call in this world, a decision I am glad I have never had to make.

Folks know how to exploit these temporary part time jobs to the fullest. Work too many hours, or earn too much income, you lose your section 8 housing, and free medical coverage for your kids.

you're accusing the wrong folks for exploiting part time positions. walmart is one of the worst for keeping folks part time so they don't have to provide benefits.

That happens everywhere. Including my work as a white collar professional. You liberals think that only lower income levels/"menial" jobs are affected by these things. It is the way of the world, like it or not. Stop scapegoating Walmart.

No idea what Sears looks like inside. The only one around here is at the place that I don't go to - the mall. Whenever I go to Target, it is well visited. Not chaotic or overly crowded or anything but that's a good thing in my book. Wal-Mart looks busy from the distance - and that's as close as I get.

There are only 2 Wal-Marts in LA proper, as far as I know, and they are crowded as f^ck but depressing and dirty. I live equidistant from two Targets -- both are clean, well-stocked, busy but not crowded, and has stuff I actually want and need to buy at competitive prices. Nobody grumbles around here about the lack of Wal-Marts, as far as I know, and people of all economic levels shop at Target.

 I know many people that work in retail. My wife has a large circle of friends from the Philippines and the ones that are working are almost all in retail. People bad mouth Walmart because they are the largest "offender", but the ones that work for Target and Sears and Lowes and JCP and Best Buy get treated much worse, make less per hour, and work fewer hours.

Seems to me that as a "white collar professional", you're gonna need to work a little harder to be able to work for an employer where you aren't abused like that.

I'd be perfectly fine without any Wal-Mart. Wouldn't know the difference personally. To be fair, I'd be fine without malls, too.

that's so funny that you would speak to me as if i were a white collar liberal looking down upon those working menial jobs.

i know that you do. my memory isn't that shitty. walmart is the largest offender, that doesn't mean that all the little guys aren't guilty as well. people don't shop like they used to, retail is suffering hiccups in adjusting. imo.

i don't know about that. a two parent household with both working, a good hearty chunk of that combined 20 an hour is going to go to daycare. i'm going to bet both scenarios would require some sort of welfare assistance. eic would be one.

Stick to oral sex, no kids, no problems.

That was not my point at all. Never accused you of looking down at anyone. You are putting words into my mouth. But you do undeservedly treat Walmart as this great satan, as so many liberals do.
