Hi!

Passed the interview two weeks ago and my oath ceremony is tomorrow! Yay!!

My mother came from out of state and wants to attend.

Concern is, she does not have any USCIS status. She is worried about entering the USCIS building. She only has a Brazilian passport (with her expired Visa on the back) as an ID.

Will this be an issue? Should she go in? Or just wait in the car?

Also, thoughts on children attending? A 2.5 year old....

Our oath cermony was held at another building (not USICS), but they had separate lines for those going through the ceremony and those there as guests. The guests were not required to show any kind of ID. I'm not sure if that would be the case for going to a USCIS building. Does your oath ceremony letter say anything about bringing guests? Also, at our ceremony there were children. It wasn't a very long ceremony, so it seemed to be fine. Congratulations to you!

I entered building with my Indian passport at my cousin's interview in 2013. And I also been there with just my driver license(CA) in January. Just show valid id to the guard and they will let you go in. Also in my local office at Sacramento we are allowed to take people. IDK if one or two. There is a mid size hall and they make the people taking oath sit on one side and guest on other.

It wouldn't be any different than going into any other goverment building. You simply need to show a valid proof of identity, normally a government issued picture ID. Her Brazilian passport itself isn't expired, so she will be fine. They only want to verify identity in those situations, not immigration status. They will check the picture page, compare her to the photo, and then check the expiration date. They aren't going to flip through the passport and look for a valid entry visa.

My oath ceremony will be in the actual USCIS building here in Tampa... they have a big room set up just for Oath Ceremonies!

I have a question regarding bringing guests... so I will be having my BF attend, however I will get there first (as I want to be in early!) and because the BF is working, he needs to leave out and head to the ceremony by himself, and will arrive just a few mins before starting.

Is he ok to go in by himself?

(I'm sure he can but wouldn't that be kinda weird tho and security might not let him seeing as I'm already in there?)...
