Foreign income - put $0 for current income AND previous tax years

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't find an exact answer and want to be really sure to avoid a checklist.

My husband and I are both resident outside the States. He is a USC. We have done tax returns for 2011, 2012 and 2013 - waiting for transcripts. Should he put $0 down for income and where it asks about the previous tax years?

Also should I put 0$ down for my income or should I not even be included as I don't earn US money either - I'm referring to where it says to include "any other person who was counted in your household size."

We have a joint sponsor who will be providing proof of their income, so I think our income and tax returns are largely irrelevant to them.

If the USC's foreign income will not continue in the United States, then he/she puts $0 in the current individual income. The amount for previous tax years should come from directly from the tax transcript.

Thanks. Sorry if I'm being dense, but as the previous years are exempt foreign income, aren't they 0$ too (instead of X euros)?

we are on the same boat as you are.

my wife`s transcripts for past few years under total income are showing 0.00$ so she used this number on 13.1a-c

It could be $0 if you have no other form of income.. In mine for example, even though foreign income was exempt and would have been 0, I had a small amount of interest earned off of stocks in the United States.

We have no US income at all. It says 0 for total taxable income. As the Spanish income is exempt, so we should put 0 then.
