Dear Group Members,

Found great knowledge on this forum,

I am from Pakistan and my wife is an US citizen so i am a Beneficiary. My 1-130 has just been approved now my question is if anybody changes address within the city, Is he required separate police certificate of every area or just a Police certificate covering city is ok?

second question is that i have a permanent house in a city but at the time of city i lived at my aunt house which is near the university but city is same and visited my permanent house regularly 2 or 3 days in a week..so can i mention it in DS-260 form or permanent address should be ok.

Pakistan beneficiaries are not required to submit a police certificate from Pakistan.

Police Records

Not available. Pakistan has no nationwide tracking system in place for criminal activities. Police Character Certificates are available for a fee from District Coordinating Offices. However, they are not an accurate reflection of an individual's criminal record. An applicant who has committed a crime in one district may be able to obtain a clean Character Certificate from that district or another. Given the inaccuracy of these certificates, they are not required for consular processing.

Don't bother mentioning your aunts house as it sounds like it was a temporary residence. No mail was received there and you didn't live there full time.

Obaid, since you still have time my advise is you get another police certificate as they write an address on it. Even though police cert is not needed for isb, i would advise you get it just in case. Provide them with your "permanent address" from the NIC. And write the same NIC permanent address on your DS 260.. just my opinion.

07/2010 to 02/2012 Live in aunt house this is also in Karachi

03/2012 to till now again move to permanent house

If i was you i would only have one address entry in the form:

01/2002 - Present : permanent khi address from NIC

... and have the police certificate for that address as that is your official address as far as the paki govt is concerned.

Question: did you obtain a new NIC during the period with "current" address showing as your aunt's address while you stayed with her? not that it matters in my opinion, but just curious..
