Looking for informationn regarding Nursing Exams, or prep-tests to take. Not sure exactly what it is that I am looking for since it's for the wife, and not me. Basically something she can do witin the medical field while studying for the USMLE and ECFMG testing.

Thanks for the help folks.

Looks like we're in the same boat bud! My fiancee will also be studying for the USMLE when she arrives.......and studying, and studying, and studying.......ugh.

I've looked into volunteer opportunities at the hospital as well as an Hispanic organization in Milwaukee that assists people in the community.

What does your wife do?

Currently she voluteers at the Childrens hospital, but would like to earn some $$ to help out with Church wedding expenses down in Ecuador.

Just got the EAD, so tomorrow we're hittin some FF joints... not the best place to work, but it will help her feel better.

Her med degree is Int Med at the moment, but she started a Peds residency down in Ecuador, and wants to finish that out here as she can. Final destination for her is fellowship in Ped Reconstructive surgery.

Got her Kaplans USMLE QStep1 today to start her off, but am sure she'll also have to wade through a TOEFL also..

Yeah TOEFL is required. My fiance finished med school and wants to do her residency here. She had an opportunity in Spain....and then I showed up.

From what I hear, the surgery programs are difficult to get into in the U.S. They favor local candidates.

I get worried about her as well....not healthy to be studying all day. She is far too social for that.

In my experience most foreign medical grads end up working in research somewhere, either public health or in a lab. Those kinds of listings may be where you want to start looking for jobs. I don't think you can just jump into nursing by taking the exams without going to nursing school.
