Well I got my RFE this past Friday. Thought they were going to ask for more pictures that we had met. Turns out I forgot to answer no for criminal acts question. D'oh! Mailed it back Saturday for next day delivery. They should be getting it today. I just hope for a speedy answer now.

My Case Status online was updated on August 13 indicating they are sending me an RFE. Based on anyone's recent experiences, how long did it take to receive the hard copy of the RFE letter after electronic notification it was coming?

Thanks.

Hi --

I am not far from you - I live in Woburn. It took exactly a week to get the RFE in mail. It is frustrating to wait that long. I did call the USCIS after the electronic RFE. She told me that she doesn't know what the RFE is about as she is not logged into that 'system'. Mine was simple so responded within a day and got approval after 10 business days from the date the system acknowledged the receipt of RFE response.

01/31/2015 : 129F sent

02/04/2015 : NOA1

07/24/2015: RFE1

08/01/2015: Received paper mail RFE1

08/03/2015: Mailed response overnite

08/04/2015: Tracking showed TSC received

08/05/2015: TSC acknowledged that my RFE was received

08/14/2015: NOA2 approved

Hi Fonn. Well I checked my case status and it says that they received my paperwork on August 18th. They now say they are continuing the review for the case. Let's see how long this takes now.

They received my RFE response on 08/13/2015.

RFE was on the divorce decree. Unfortunately the divorce decree that we already submitted is the final decree. It just was not issued by a court. It was issued by another legal entity which exists in India. We submitted a lawyer letter from India explaining the law in India. Don't know what is going to happen.

The website is not updated yet! Any idea how much time it will take for them to respond after receiving the RFE response?

Hi Vanamali:

I am facing a similar issue. Fiancé's divorce decree is not issued by a Court, but by the relevant City Municipal Office in Japan. It's called a Mutual Consent divorce so no court involved.

I have already contacted a Japanese lawyer to get the explanatory letter and we got some new paper from the City Office.

I am still waiting for the Hard Copy of the RFE. They say it was mailed Aug. 13th, but I still don't have it.

I'll keep you posted on what happens with us, but you're ahead of me.

Good luck and please report the results.

I have read on other threads that people have submitted explanatory letters for this type of issue.

Also, I have read on other threads that it takes them an average of 14 to 30 days to act once you respond to the RFE, although some get approvals even sooner.

Ho, Thank you Ericapplebaum. Hope we can get through this. I was reading your posts and found the similarities. Good luck to both of us. I will keep you posted.

My fiance's aunt just came back from the Embassy in Curacao where she went to get a traveling Visa tothe U.S. (She has DR passport visa is required to travel to U.S)to be able to visit her daughter. She was denied they didn't ask to see any of the paperwork she had. It is believed she was denied because they think she plans to move with her daughter meanwhile she has a job in Aruba where she lives, she's in the process of building a house. Makes no sense. What worries me is I've been waiting since jan 12th for my NOA2 and have heard nothing. We have no criminal backround, neither of us have overstayed when we went to visit each other, I've contacted my local congressman back home a few months ago to see if he can make an inquiry on my case and possibly get it expedited and he was unable to do so. I've been in Aruba since March 25th staying with my fiance waiting for approval. Now I'm leaving a month from today (Sept. 20th) still no word. Being that her Aunt got denied to VISIT the U.S. and wouldn't even state why. What is stopping them from denying my fiance from moving to the U.S. to start a life with me. That is if we even get approved which doesn't look very promising being that its been over 7 months and we've been watching people get approved all around us. Its as if we been skipped over. Anyways we were hoping this entire ordeal would be over with by the end of this year. That we'd be able to spend Christmas and New Years together for the first time, but that seems highly unlikely right now.
