There's no need for anyone to run around with a firearm. Too many people snap or have some other stupid sh!t end up in disaster. Bottom line, the cost is high while the benefits are low. Tighter regulations are needed as well - on the acquisition and possession of firearms.

If nobody can have them, then that makes living much easier. That still permits pump shotguns for home protection and bolt action hunting rifles for hunting, for example.
