Boiler, you are "spot on" with your post, as obama is not a President "of all the people" just a select few. I CANNOT bring myself to capitalize his name, the worst President in the history of the USA, as time will tell, and people will see WHO this guy obama really is!!!

Glad to be conservative, could not ever agree with what this "thing" has let this country become!

Again, racist... How you can't see that people across the border are humans too just shocks me. Its scary what the world is becoming. Nobody is saying the president is the picture of all good but at least he is doing things to progress humans insted of sending them to war. He has to take executive acctions because politicians are corrupt and don't get anything done. Calling him a "thing" says it all about your post. Sad...

  • 2 weeks later...

I get the concerns about potential delays associated with the president's executive actions. I too recently got a petition filed on my behalf by my significant other and I dread the seemingly endless separation others have endured. But let's not allow blind self-interest bring out the demons in us.

Had Congress enacted these programs, rather than the president birthing them by executive action, we'd still be facing a similar risk of delays. Could we then bite our lips in anger and yell 'dictator!' or all those vile things that -- let's be honest -- typically come from a dark and wicked place?

Some 11 million people broke the law by entering the US without proper documentation or by overstaying their visas. They committed a misdemeanor -- an illegality no worse, in the eyes of the law, than crossing the street improperly between intersections. For that, many have suffered exploitation and endured the endless fear of deportation. For some, especially those who've gone on to commit serious crimes, those are well-deserved outcomes. For most, however, it's time we brought them out of the shadows, got them right with the law, and made them contribute to society.

It's the right thing to do. The American thing to do.

There is a lot more than 11 million, exactly how many who knows.

Entering or staying illegally is a civil not criminal issue.

How it is the American way I have no idea.

People continue to break the law, entering illegally in droves or purposefully overstaying their visa, precisely because it is perceived as a misdemeanor, no worse than crossing the street improperly. Any idiot can do the math and see that the risk (very little) outweighs the reward.

Incidentally, that's the same reason that I tend to flagrantly cross the street whenever and wherever the hell I feel like it: because it's a minor offense, from which there is little chance I'll get caught, and even less chance I'll get punished if I am caught. There are other categories of crimes which I do not consider "morally" reprehensible... and yet I refrain from committing them simply because the odds of me getting caught ARE high, and the punishment is strong enough that I would very much like to avoid it.

And then of course, there's the cherry on top, that if you get in and wait a few years, someone will likely give you a blanket pardon. Awesome!!

Crossing the street may be a misdemeanour.

This is not.
