Hi All,

I am about to file for my mother's I-130 and i have a quick question.

my mother's last name on her passport was different therefore it has now been updated on her new passport to reflect her name as per my DOB certificate.

now since her last name was different in her initial passport do i have to mention that in section 7. of i-130 other names used?

also, i am planning to send the following documents with my mothers i-130 (as i discovered that g325a & photo is not needed incase of parents filing)

a. Copy of my naturalization certificate as proof of USA citizenship.

b. Copy of my birth certificate showing my name and my mother’s name

can you please confirm if i need to send out any additional documents at the time of i-130 filing.

FYI - my mother lives in india (so outside USA)

thanks for your help & support

Regards,

G

Yes. It is better to show all the names that were used.

Did she travel to US ever with the passport with wrong last name ? Then be prepared to explain the reason.

You need to send the your naturalization certificate to show that you are indeed a US Citizen.

You need to provide your birth certificate with both your name and her name for her to be beneficiary as immediate relative. If any of them is missing, you should provide secondary evidence

My mother didn't come to US yet though she was denied US tourist Visa couple of times, the passport used for the tourist Visa had her old last name.

To give more details, On her old indian passport the field for 'Surname' was blank therefore i got it updated to include her surname on new passport.

Her updated name is what i have shared with USCIS on all of my USC forms (I-130, i-485, n-400, g325a etc..)

Therefore, can anyone please advise on how to provide reasoning of name change as i dont have a solid reason of last name changes as its normal in India. also her last name is not much different

Is there is any statement i can include as addendum statement?

Good thing is my mothers name on her new India passport and my DOB is same.

Thanks in advance for your help
