Im filling out form 485 for my husband and there are two questions I'm not sure how to answer

1. Were we inspected by an immigration officer?.....do they mean where the passports are stamped or something completely different

2. They ask have we ever filed for a visa in the US before?......do they literally mean have we filed for a US visa while in the US? We petitioned for one in the UK in London but we never got to the interview because my visa expired

Just want to double check before I print.Thank you!

1. If you had to pass through immigration at your POE, then the answer is YES.

2. I don't see a question asking if you filed for a visa in the US before. The following sections below your first question ask for the nonimmigrant visa number, consulate where it was issued, and the issue date. The question underneath that asks: Have you ever applied for permanent resident status in the US? That answer of course would be NO (unless in the past you tried to adjust status)

~~moved to AOS from work, visitor, and student visas from What visa do I need~~

Please direct all your questions about the AOS process to this forum not to the What Visa do I need forum. The What Visa Do I need is only for people who want to know about types of visas (or if they can AOS.) Once you've decided on a process it's best to ask your questions within that process forum.

~~organizer hat off~~

1) inspected by an immigration officer means legally entering the country through a point of entry like an airport or authorized land crossing. People who enter the USA illegally, are not eligible to adjust their status.

2) You started the petition process for a US visa? Then yes you started the process but decided not to finish.
