Good Day everyone

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. and also for any contributions you leave.

Day 1 of being on VJ.

So, we will be filing somewhere next month, as she( the USC) is coming to visit me in 2 weeks! been 6 months since we last saw each other, so to say I am excited is an understatement.

I have started gathering all the necessary documentation etc. in the mean time, I was just hoping you all would be so kind as to just tell me if I am missing something ( yes, I have familiarized myself with the guides etc. )

While she is here we will complete the following so she has the original "wet" signatures for filling:

  1. G325a Biographical forms
  2. intent to marry document
  3. Have passport style photos taken so she has a current one of me

Anything else that you would advise I should sign or have her sign etc whilst she is here ( courier services are pricey! )

Now as for proof of having met in last 2 years as well as ongoing relationship, on my side I have:

  1. 500+ photos of my trips to visiting her( more to come as she will be visiting here soon)( how many would you think I should give to her, is front loading advisable for South Africa? anyone know?)
  2. Boarding passes, itineraries from our trips to places like the cruise to Alaska we took,Hotel receipts, receipts of the flowers I have sent her( about 13 receipts across 2 years)Flight bookings, screen shots of texts, Facetime and Skype screenshots( even when I asked her parents for their blessings).Call records, Baggage tags stickers from internal US flights with our names on it, passport stamps copies.Facebook screen shots. Screen shots of email history, snippets of emails between us. I also created a detailed day by day account of what we did where with pictures for each day to prove it. Lastly I have my official electronic I-94 that one can retrieve from US customs website as well.

So any tips on what else to add on, or should this be sufficient?

Is it advisable to also have her friends, family as well as mine write signed letters stating a bone fide relationship and intent to marry?

Thank you all for your time, I welcome any comments.

All the best with your journeys.

Your proof sounds sufficient, just don't send all things you have, try to be synthetic. Send essential elements that underline the evolution of your relationship, conversations for example, you don't need to send all them, but only small key-extracts for every month you stayed together (2 years is a long time).

500 photos are too many, 10 pictures to send are ok and if you want to make things bigger 20 are fine too but don't exaggerate. Choose those that show you in different places/periods, doing different things, from your various trips and in case you have photos together with family/friends it's good to send these too.

You don't need letters from friends or family.

Good luck :)

Hey CamMo,

Make sure you look at this link: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guideHave a look at #4

It has everything that you need to file the K1.

I agree you don't need 500 pictures. I would do 15 to 20. Have pictures in different locations with different people. Write on the back who is in the picture and the date.

Boarding passes and passport stamps I think hold more weight then a flight booking. As it shows that you actually were on the flight, and arrived. You could book a trip and not go and then have a flight booking. Any hotels or activities that you booked while together and you have the receipt included those.

You can included a few Skype screen shots of your relationship but I wouldn't included many. Maybe a couple pages. Have some from the start of your relationship the middle and where you are now. I would also included call records a few pages that span the course of your relationship.

Agreed you don't need letters from friends or family.

Good day

Thank you so much for your comments, it is much appreciated.

Okay, I will try to use the most pertinent information only. Thank you for the tip.

Any suggestions on what else I can sign or have signed by us both whilst she is here in two weeks time?

She will most probably file within a few days of getting back to the US.

Thank you a bunch :)

I'm trying to remember what I had to sign when we sent our petition and yes, it seems like you (beneficiary) need to sign only the G325a form and the letter of intent to marry, that's all (use the blue ink). If you want to write an additional letter explaining how you met her and illustrating with few words stages of your relationship development over the past 2 years, sign that one as well.

Boarding passes as well as passport stamps are great as they are dated, and at this stage all you need to try to prove is that you've physically met within the past 2 years. Photos are obviously good to show you together, but don't have an authoritative date. We found a photo we'd had taken at an attraction we visited in the states that had the name and logo of the attraction on it, with the date, and clearly the two of us in the photo - I'm hoping that will be irrefutable when combined with all the boarding passes and passport stamps we both submitted!
