Quick question for people who may have an answer for me.

Hi. as it looks I am a filer for K-1 visa from OCT 2014, I am guessing it will take 8-10 months from the looks of the backup in TSC. my question is... I may have my fiance come visit me and stay with me on tourist visa for 90 days and then return back to her country. I was wondering if she can fill out the DS160 form in USA and then schedule the interview date while she is in USA ? or do she need to be back in her country for the schedule to be done ?

and how long do scheduling take ? 1month ? 2 months ? 2 weeks ? 3 weeks ? just trying to plan out what we can do if the process is taking longer.

also curious on how long does the process take after we receive the NOA2 ?will it also be backup like how Tsc ? or will it be more resonable time ??

thanks.

DS160 is online application, so physical location on where your fiance (and/or you)

filling this out should not matter at all. I (in US) helped to fill out DS160 for my fiancee at the time (in China).

I don't know about her being able to do the interview in US, she may have to check with the

US embassy/consulate office in Taiwan.

As for scheduling interview...for China (which could be different for Taiwan), we had to...

1. Once I-129F was approved, and the case moved through NVC to the local embassy

2. She had to wait couple of weeks to receive the packet 3 (came in express mail)

3. We filled out DS-160, paid the fee at a local bank, and send back the packet 3 reply

4. We waited another 2 weeks for packet 4 (came in email)

5. We booked the interview date via online (first open interview dates were about week away,

but this is highly dependent on the embassy/consulate you are going through)

One of the complications is ... the embassy is going to try to contact her using local address,

(unless there is a way to change this ahead of time) ... (and maybe even require payment to be made at local Taiwan location),

so you really have to carefully think through and coordinate this.

I've seen NOA 2 to interview go in two months but that was with the UK embassy. Probably best checking the Taiwan forums for the Taiwan embassy as once it's out of NVC it's up to them.

TSC is averaging about 200 days, you're a month before us so I suspect you'll be looking at a NOA 2 around May.

Seems most of it is organised by phone but don't forget there's a medical too that has to happen in the beneficiaries country which I think has to be around a week or two before the interview (check K1 Visa Process and Taiwan Embassy info/reviews). You can phone the NVC for your case number which you'll need to book the medical appointment.

I suspect the beneficiary definitely needs to have a return flight ticket and evidence that she'll go back home or I think getting through the US border would be difficult.

Make sure the beneficiary doesn't overstay over 90 days otherwise it'll risk your K1 application! I would go 85 days just in case anything happens (weather/airport shuts etc) to avoid complication.
