Best Advice for Changing Embassies in Country? NVC no help!

Hello,

We are at the 60-day document review stage of NVC. When I called to get our case & IIN #'s on 12/29/14, we were assigned the Mumbai Consulate. When we originally filed our petition, we requested the New Delhi Embassy. So at the same time of getting our case #, I requested a change to New Delhi. The NVC told me to send an email ASAP requesting the transfer and told me the information to be contained within the email. She said to allow 60 days for them to respond. I asked if this would delay our process and she said not at all and to continue doing everything we need to do to keep things moving. I sent the email that same evening 12/29/14. Fast forward (in reality slow forward) to today and I get the reply to our request from NVC for a transfer:

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry regarding the immigrant visa petition: BMBxxxxxxxxxx filed by PETITIONER on behalf of BENEFICIARY.

To transfer visa petition BMBxxxxxxxxxx from the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in MUMBAI (BOMBAY), INDIA to a different one, you must submit a transfer request to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General where you wish the petition to be processed. Please include the following information with your transfer request:

NVC case number

Petitioner's name and date of birth

Principal applicant's name and date of birth

Principal applicant's current address

The interview appointment date (if applicable)

U.S. EMBASSY or CONSULATE GENERAL CONTACT INFORMATION:

Please visit www.usembassy.gov to determine the contact information for the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General where you wish to transfer this visa petition. The individual Embassy or Consulate General website includes contact information for immigrant visa related inquiries.

Now... WHY would they have not just given me that information to begin with instead of making us wait all this time just to tell us Oh BTW you have to email the embassy where you want to interview? This is such an asinine way of handling this and I'm super frustrated and completely baffled by this reply. Not that I don't understand it - I do. I just can't figure out why they didn't tell me to do this back on 12/29? More time wasted!!

So my question - does anyone have a better, quicker solution and if not, how successful is it to get a case transferred by emailing the Embassy, because according to what I could determine on the website for New Delhi, I have to email ustraveldocs? Should I call NVC and ask to speak with a Supervisor? Should I contact the DOS? Does anyone have success in getting a timely reply from ustraveldocs? I don't want to email the NVC again, because that will entail another 60-day wait and most likely resulting in the same answer as above. Any help here is greatly appreciated!

Well, a general free advice...as you have already seen the causes for delay..Just go ahead and finish the interview at Mumbai and most of them here also say (whoever got into AP)..that Mumbai has a Better percentage of approval than Delhi...

OP just out of curiosity why did you request New Delhi? Is it because you are able to go to the interview together?

Yes, that's the main reason. We went through Mumbai previously and were denied on our K1 and it was an extremely bad experience for my husband (then fiance)
