They don't sell Cleos here. I told Moh he's gonna have to bring himself a few cartons. Cleos are like the cheapest of the cheap smokes. Like worse than Basics. I don't know how Moh smokes those bad boys.

LOL I thought it was cute when Moh would offer the cabbies a smoke. Doodle, what brand does Usama smoke? It's not Cleopatra, is it?

YES!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

My sister smokes so I brought her a few packs thinking she'd think it was cool and all that and she told me they sell them here but I haven't seen any in the 7/11 that I go to for my Big Gulp.

Does anyone know where we can get that tea that they use there? It's the lipton yellow brand or something and it's all looseleaf. I have a box of lipton looseleaf that I use for my iced tea but I don't think it tastes the same. Also that sugar...it's like five times the size of our sugar...and I think it tastes better tooooo.

Tamally maak is my favorite song as well!

Does anyone else dig the complimentary way Egyptians do business? The way they always call cab drivers and shop keepers..ya riez, ya basha, ya gameel. I think it's adorable.

They do that in Jordan too, a popular one there is M'3alem (The one who teaches)

My favorite egyptian singer (aside from my husband, since he was an amateur singer and songwriter while he was still at home) is Amr Diab. I know, I know, cheesiness.

You can listen to just about everything he's done back from to the 1980s on his website.

I think my favorite albumn is Tamally Malak.

I'm a huge Amr Diab fan and Tamally Ma'ak is my favorite song, its the song my cell phone plays when my hunny calls.

We use a brand by the name of Ahmed Tea.. its really good too. I love drinking tea and milk, it was just kinda wierd for me in Egypt cause the milk is so different. I was sooo amazed the way the had milk in a bag. I stayed in a village neighborhood, and to be quite honest.. it was miserable for me... :(

I'm a tea afficionado. I delight in getting teas from specialty stores with rose hips and whatnot mixed in.

My husband drinks lipton yellow brand loose tea from the box. Sometimes with mint and sugar. Sometimes with milk.

I need to get a smaller tea pot, because mine will brew only 2 cups, no more, no less. If he's content with the cheapo stuff, I suppose I don't need to waste the expensive stuff for him.

When I was there my fiance had bought Lipton tea in a yellow package and he had bought some green tea for me in a green package from a neat little store called Metro. I want to say the name started with an S. Anyway I loved that he'd get up and make us tea in the morning and midday and late at night. I thought it was just the sweetest thing. (L)

omg yuk!!! He was all proud..if he were a peacock his feathers would have been all puffed out and stuff...and he walks into the flat with this bag of milk and shows it to me beaming. Then he goes and boils it and puts it in the fridge and when it is cold he wants me to eat the crust that rose to the top!!!

 I ate a little and then when I wouldn't eat a whole freakin' bowl of it he was all sad. I felt bad but ew. I guess if I grew up with it then I would probably like it but it just was too much between that and the slaughtered sheep everywhere.

If you don't mind my asking, chococat, where is your husband from? Mine's from a farming town (Kafr el Dawar)...now that was roughin' it!

My husband is from a place called Helwan. I didnt stay with him though. I come from a very strict family, both islamically and culture wise. We did our islamic marriage and everything but my father refused to let us spend some time together because he didnt get an apartment yet. We never "ya know." So we when we went out, I had to have my brother with me.

Oh wait..after our ceremony we went out to eat with my brother. My husband forgot his phone in his car, so my brother ..being the kind guy he is..offered to go get it so we can have "sometime alone." My husband started talking to me telling me I looked nice and everything, and there goes my brother. He was back in less than 2 minutes.

It was hard for me, we stayed in a place with no hot water..donkeys..roosters. My family back home is really stubborn, they felt it was rude of us to leave somewhere alone. But honestly, the experience has taught me to thank Allah for everything I've got. :innocent:

So yeah I dont know if I should call him my husband anymore, maybe he is just my fiance??

Lucky! My husband would say, why don't you make us some tea? Once I accidently put salt instead of sugar. That was really cute

I was gonna say the same thing!!!! I would wake up and go to the bathroom and he'd get up , sit in the living room and say "could i have some tea please". I thought it was cute though. I actually cried the first day back when we talked and he was drinking tea at the cafe 'cause I missed making it for him.

I stayed with my inlaws both times I've been to Egypt. We did the civil/Islamic marriage at the Ministry of Justice so we were able to "stay" together alone after marriage. Kafr el Dawar is quite an experience for an American. It was kinda like camping. Minimal ammenities.
