K1 gets you into the US not France, is it just for a connecting flight?

If you are planning on visiting France before you come to USA. you will probably need a visa. The K-1 visa is actually a non immigration visa which means you will not be a residence of the USA until you arrived here get married and adjust status. If you just have a layover at the airport in France to catch a connecting flight and will be staying in the airport waiting for your next flight, you will probably not need a visa for that.

If you are just switching flights at a country airport Usually a visa is not needed,as you have no plans to stay in that particular country. As long as you have your passport and your airline ticket to board the plane, it should be ok

When you book your flight make sure you book only one flight, layover is ok to the USA, not two separate flights. Also make sure that once you are in the airport in France you stay in the international area and you shouldn't need a travel visa(schengen visa).

You simply don't leave the airport. Some countries will allow you to leave the airport and come back if you have an overnight layover like I did in Paraguay but I was a US citizen and they allowed me to visit without a visa. If you need a visa to be in France then you can't leave the airport and will have to spend the night there.

Tunisia is not one of the countries requiring a transit visa for connecting flights in France and the Schengen Zone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_the_Schengen_Area#Visa_exemptions

As others have said, I highly recommend booking your flights on the same itinerary and preferably with the same airline. They will want to see proof that you have permission to enter your final destination country, and if you book your travel as separate flights on different itineraries with multiple airlines it may complicate things. If you can't do a single airline, at the very least book your trip all at once on the same itinerary.

If that is just a connecting flight and you are not planning to go out the airport (France) then you should not worry about it.

Lets not make this too hard. I have traveled from Tunisia to Los Angles and France was the passing point to Los Angeles. Book your flight. You will get your passport with the K1 visa. If you have a layover in Paris, I would suggest that you try and not leave the airport.

I had a 12 hour layover in Paris and I was looking for a place to rest as I waited to get on my flight. I asked one of the counter girls where was the resting area (they have them with the charging area). The woman told me I had to leave the airport and come back. She told me that I should have gotten a visa to France. I explained that I was not trying to visit and that its their fault for not having a plane then and there. She told me to ask the police there if I could stay in the airport. The police had no problem with me waiting. I wasnt about to go out into the city and miss my flight back to the states.

Just book the flight and do not worry about anything else. Good luck

First of all Mabrouk.

Now the K1 visa is only valid for USA. It is not good for france. If you want to visit france make sure you apply for a short term visit schengen visa. If your connecting flight is in the same airport in france you dont need a schengen visa and you can wait inside the airport as long as you have to until the departure of your next flight.

In the airport some officers might approach you and ask you questions like where are you going? how long are you staying? how did you meet your husband/wife?... Answer their questions truthfully and dont get nervous about them, its a standard procedure.
