Makes sense, although I feel it is a tad unfair because of delays due to processing! I think they should put it in their job advertisement, must have a permanent GC, then the poor person who took the test and such wouldn't have to go through it all and be terribly disappointed at a later date.

I notice that you have to go through the whole AOS procedure. Hopefully the queues will start diminishing shortly! :)

You're right. Would be nice if they would put that in the job requisition, but they're used to US citizens applying for all those jobs.

And yes, we just started my wife's AOS journey last month. I have not been reading the horror stories, in purpose. Our current expectation is that my wife can begin working when she gets her EAD (hopefully in March or April. Then we both understand that we could be looking at up to a year total for GC.

Well the good news is you can make a service request for the EAD card if you havent received it by day 75, so you shouldnt be waiting more than 90 days in total. As for the GC, yes currently 9 months to a year, but if you get an interview, it could be a lot sooner. What you don't want is a waiver letter, as it delays it all by 6 months (6 months included in the year's wait) and you can still be asked for an interview! :(

Time to reset the tick tock clock again.   Roll my eyes.

Yeah I see the 100+ page thread you linked. I'm sure it's all a big mess. Thanks for the info. Some I know from my own personal research I've done. All I know is, my wife & I went through the hell-hole otherwise known as the TSC for our I-129F. That wait made our relationship stronger. We are willing to go through anything else we need to, now that we get to wait together instead of apart. It just makes everything so much easier for us. It makes waiting less terrifying.

I didn't join the thread until I got my EAD card, like you I didn't want to look at it and be horrified by the statistics. I, however, did ask for a service request for my EAD card after 75 days. Within a week of that they had issued it! I wanted to travel to see my son for Christmas so I was really anxious about the card.

Hopefully by the time you join the gravy train, called AOS things may have calmed down.

@shell200. I can't locate the waiver letter is somewhere among my documents but I think I got it between October and November. So you mean it takes 9 to 12 months from the day you received the waived letter? I am with Nebraska filling service formally Texas or Vermont. Did you say after waiting this long you might also be called for an interview? Do you know of any number to call and talk to a second tier CO? I will work on my timeline soon.

You need to wait 6 months after the waiver letter or look at the processing times for your local field office. People are not getting through to a second tier officer right now as they are far too busy apparently. So it would mean if you received your waiver letter in November you can't really complain until May. However, you can look up your local field office for processing times and see if they are behind your dates. We all get told its in Nebraska, it seems pretty generic right now, but that doesn't mean it has not been transferred. You need to join our thread.

And I meant 9 to 12 months from filing and yes even with a waiver letter and waiting you can still be called for an interview, but that is rare.
