@Shell200 thank you for the response. Enter end the States 12th April 2014 and got married in May. Sent of the application in June. Got an RFE and sent it back by July ending. Got a response back from them that received it and was sent to do my biometrics. 22nd of sept I got my EAD. Combo card in the mail and my interview was waived. Was told to wait for GReen card. I have been waiting and nothing has change in my status on the USCIS website. I was told before that from when you receive the EAD card till your 2 yr green card is roughly 5 months that would have been Feb for me but now I do not know what to expect anymore. Applied for a correctional job with the government of Maryland and passed the exam only to be turn back on the interview date that I need to have a permanent residence to enable me qualify. Please can someone contribute to this if you have homes through this process? Shell200 I will love to hear more from you. Thanks.

what date was you waiver letter? Look at your local office processing times, they updated them recently but the figures only go from the December 31st. If you have had the NPIW letter more than 6 months or your local field office is past it's dates for processing then you can make a service request and ask what the heck is going on. It's not fair we have to turn down work because we dont have the permanent card. Please update your timeline, so people can help you quicker. Thanks

I'm not there yet in my Timeline.

My bad, it was meant for the person without the timeline, who we do not name.. Lol

Im not sure about this, but being on the AOS forum as long as I have, I see people getting denied jobs due to not having the GC. Its a bit like when I went home for 6 weeks at Christmas they told me I had to go for a secondary interview due it to being an AP card (temporary travel card) and once I received the conditional GC this would no longer apply. I guess it depends on what type of job you go for and one in a prison is probably a government run one and they are probably stricter, perhaps?!?!

I see. Well the prisons are state government run. It's not that they're stricter per se, but because it is government, that is likely why they're asking for GC. They probably don't want someone who is only authorized to work for 1 year, as they invest quite a bit of resources & money into their employees.

Makes sense, although I feel it is a tad unfair because of delays due to processing! I think they should put it in their job advertisement, must have a permanent GC, then the poor person who took the test and such wouldn't have to go through it all and be terribly disappointed at a later date.

I notice that you have to go through the whole AOS procedure. Hopefully the queues will start diminishing shortly! :)
