Well then when you ask a specific question you might want to give the whole story in as much detail as possible.

I wouldn't have researched it for you if I had known your weren't an LPR. That was a waste of time.

Perhaps noting the forum you're in next time would be beneficial, or asking questions to clarify. Just a thought. Have a nice day.

I've heard everyone's opinion. My opinion is, well from what I've read regarding US laws. Once you can prove abandonment by both birth parents, then the child is indeed an orphan. Which in my case, my niece absolutely is. Both her parents were absent since she was 3months.

Also she lived with me since she was 3months old when I lived in Jamaica. Making it a total of 4years. I left Jamaica and my father who lives in a different parish is now raising her. He is not her legal guardian, but he is raising her. So she is still in fact an orphan, because her birth parents don't provide for her financially, emotionally and never visit her. So she is just basically living with my dad until I complete the adoption process.

Thanks everyone and have a great day!

Keep us updated. You would be the first VJ case if successfull and could provide substantial information for others.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

The previous threads I have read suggest that the OP has not been willing to go through what is needed to make it work.

It can be done.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
