hi

you don't have to stay married, you can divorce and return to your country, as said, face the ban. there is no obligation to stay married if things aren't going well

If I do that, the odds of me applying for a visa before coming to the US and it being approved are extremely low. I can't risk that I want to be able to come here again :)

Why is being here so important?

Your only route to stay is your spouse and filing for an adjustment of status.

You currently have a 3 year bar, wait too long and it will be 10.

That and I'm sure y'all have heard how Greece is at the moment and I don't really see myself having a future there anymore. I love America and I'd like a future here but if I can't come back...

If you can't come back . . . then your plan is to live and work here illegally?

No how can I work illegally? If that was the case I'd have done it to get money for the green card. But I'm not going to. I'll try to work things out in my marriage.

Well, if you can work it out, then once you do send in the paperwork, you will be able to work within a month or two. That right there should be encouragement enough to scrape the money together and file. Two incomes instead of one would make lives much easier, and probably relieve some of the stress on your relationship with your spouse.
