Hi. My plan is that my parents will register to lottery since they have high school (I have 1 and half year of school left = can't register yet). In case they would win the lottery - am I still able to get green card while they would actually never come to US (I want to live in the US, but they don't)? I am asking because after high school I would like to join US military but lottery registration deadlines are 2 years before lottery itself so I would have to wait years.

(I'm from Europe and 18 years old.)

Thanks

The winner of the DV must immigrate to the U.S. in order for family members to qualify for immigration visas and green cards.

No winner immigrating, then no one else immigrated.

Once the winner has a green card, the winner can abandon it using form I-407. Anyone who immigrated with the winner and already has a green card can keep it.

The chances of winning the lottery are about the same as getting struck by lightening. If they apply this fall the lottery would take place the following May ( 2016) and the interviews would be the following Oct to Sep 2017. You would be very close to aging out and they would be very luck to win the first try.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
