Hi all,

I'm a US Citizen and I'm getting ready to file my wife's I-751 form - taking conditions of her permanent resident card this upcoming March. Her resident card expires in end of May. We found a house we liked a lot and want to buy it. So we are debating whether we should buy a house right now or not, which will be ready by June for move in. I only have doubts about this because of filing the I-751 which will begin processing and then in the middle of this processing we will have to change our address - can this hurt us by any chance? Is it worth the risk or should I stay put in my apartment till my wife gets her permanent resident card? Or should we go for it?

Someone with similar experiences please share your views in terms of having to change addresses while this document processes.

I would file your Removal of Conditions documents using your current address, then do a change of address if and when you move into a new house. You are required to do a change of address anyways when you move.

I applied to Nebraska for my Removal of Conditions on September 9th, and am not approved yet (5 months ago). I have had my biometrics done, but have heard nothing from them since my last touch the day after my biometrics.

What form do you have to use to file the change of address for myself and my wife? Also, does this slow down the process (i hope not)?

You'll need AR-11 for your wife (must be completed within 10days of moving) and you can do it online now. If you are her sponsor (usual case), you'll need an I-865 for yourself, and that will be sent to a different place than the AR-11.

It seems some people have had luck with change of address not affecting, and others have not, so its very hard to tell.

Frankly buying a house together seems darn good 'evidence' of a bonafide marriage for removal of conditions, so I wouldn't put your lives on hold if the house is what you want. Just file the forms, and call the 1800 number as an extra precaution.

I don't know if anyone has experience of using a mailbox, or even some other relatives address to maintain consistency. I'm sure others will chime in with experience, and you may want to ask in the Removing Conditions forum too.

AOS: ND - June 5 2006 | RFE - June 15 2006 | FP Notice - June 30 (Rescheduled to Sept 16) | AP ND - August 14 2006| Walk-in FP - Sept 5 (FP cleared next day!) | Interview - Sept 8 2006 (Approved!) | Welcome Letter - Sept 13 | EAD received - Sept 19 (kinda moot since I'm waiting for GC) | GC received - Sept 23 2006 - Woohoo!!

I-751: 06/10/08 Mailed package to VSC direct (per memo instructions) not TSC. The wait begins... | 06/11/08 Package received at VSC (12.12pm) | 06/19/08 Check cashed | 06/20/08 Received NOA1 in the mail - ND is 06/17/08 | 07/10/08 Received Biometrics Appt Letter - ND is 7/7/08 | 07/22/08 Biometrics (had to do ink & paper also...) | 07/22/08 Touched | 07/23/08 Touched | 02/11/09 Transferred to CSC (got email)... | 02/12/09 Touched | 02/20/09 Touched (but no email) | 03/24/09 Approval letter arrives in the mail! Approval date is 3/18/09 from VSC | 04/03/09 Received card, postmarked 3/31 from CSC

N-400: 06/11/09 Mailed to Lewisville Lockbox | 06/12/09 Package received at Lockbox and signed for at 1.31pm | 06/18/09 Check Cashed | 06/19/09 NOA, PD 06/12/09 | 07/06/09 Biometrics letter received, ND is 07/02/09 | 07/24/09 Biometrics appointment | 08/06/09 IL received, ND 08/03/09 | Interview 09/14/09 at 9.30am (approved!) | Oath 10/21/09 | USC

We will be buying the house probably before we file the forms, but officially moving into the house in June since its still being constructed. So i'm assuming i should just use my current address and show my preapproval loan letter as evidence for now when filing I-751?

If I really wanted to buy a house, I wouldn't let worries about documents stop me. In fact our home is for sale now and my husband doesn't even have his conditional greencard, let alone his ten year card.

You can track your case online. You can follow up with the misinformation line. I know it's not the BEST scenario, but you need to keep living your life and not let immigration rule it.

Amen!!

Also, to Sammy 1980, I would wait until the 3 month window to send in your application. Regardless of what people's timelines might say you are better off sending it in when you are supposed instead of receiving one back that was sent in early.

Good Luck!

Thanks to all for the guidance and support and speedy processing to all!

I was in similar situation. Filed I-751. 1 month later we moved to a different address. Filed AR-11 for wife, and some other form for me, the sponsor. BUT it's not enough folks. I just spoke to someone from there. You have to personally make a call to the 1800 customer support number and tell them about the new address. I's the ONLY way they will change the address on the application. Wish someone would told me that earlier -__- some other posting on there said it was just the 2 forms I need to fill out plus notifying the postoffice for forwarding. So remember, call that call in addition to filling out the forms.
