Consent/Advice letters are not always asked for at CFO, it is sporadic how they do this. Just the same it is bad planning to not be prepared.

Why CDO? Isnt she from davao?

It would be best to take a flight. Cheaper and faster.

As to OP.. You have crossed the biggest hurdle. There will lots of work around :) just be patient. Things will fall into place :)

Why CDO, well the fast cats are out of CDO not Davao. Mmmmm It's only another option. So your option is fly. Always Fly. You think cheaper. You need to do your homework before advising - PAL flight 5K - fast cat 2.4K. No brainer for the OP who said he is on a tight budget right now. :secret:

There is such thing as cebu pacific.

As to do doing research. We flyt out from cdo (laguindingan airport) most of the time having her travel davao to cdo is not fair on her.

As to boat from cdo to cebu that will take most of her time. It sucks.

If you would compute bus from davao to cdo plus cdo to somewhere that will be additional cost plus food.

Just an option. Davao-cebu flight is approximately 30mins. She can be in and out of cebu same day,

I DO MY RESEARCH.

Fast cat? Why bother. There is 2go, negros navigation, transasia, cokaliong ?

Have you ever tried Zest Air. I think AirAsia took them over. They fly only to like Manila to Davao and are cheap, plus they are at terminal 4 in Manila and there is never a line that I have ever seen.

I have made about 40 trips btw Manila to Davao, Been to Cebu about 5 times.

Are there international flights from Davao?

Yes

Singapore is the only one I know of

Oh yeah. Airasia. I know they fly from cdo-cebu.

I am not and expert on their routes.

They have weird routes.

They do have competitive prices with cebu pacific.

pAL is just way to expensive but the service is great.

OP when and when you made your decision regarding cfo. In case you would let her fly out of davao, make sure to take out the baggage allowance, insurance and all the add-ons. It will make it more cheaper.

No......

Wellllllll.... NO isn't correct if the Filipina has a visa in their passport with a ticket to Signapore NO won't cut it, this has been tried and has failed. Second the visa is in the passport you will not clear customs to exit without the CFO sticker.

So hank there is really no workaround?

Once the visa is attached, cfo sticker should be there too?

There is no "work around", this has been discussed many times over the years. The KISS approach is best - get the CFO sticker

Your missing the BIG picture here. Of course there are other ways and some suck and others are ignored for lack of research. My suggestion to the OP was an answer to his statement that they were frustrated and financially strapped. So yeah.... maybe a 6 hour bus ride sucks and maybe they can't buy that cheap ticket you mention because they are flying on another date and the promo is not available. It is going to take them "thinking outside the box" and being realistic to what can and cannot be used to get back to CFO and end this nightmare they feel they are on.

I'm sure Hank and GB are already aware of this, but I perused the CFO website and, oddly enough, found no reference to the Parental Advice/Consent letter at all. I would have at least expected some mention of it in the Filipino Spouses and Partners of Foreign National section (http://www.cfo.gov.ph/). If it's there, I couldn't find it.

Nevertheless we're going the notarization and bringing copy guardian's ID route. Why risk it? My guess is it's one of those luck of the draw deals: Some counselors don't ask and know it's not technically "required," while others know they can "require" just about whatever they want.

Separately, I'm confused as to the stamp itself. The CFO website says you can take the seminar while waiting for your visa/before the release of the visa. But in that case, the applicant doesn't have her passport on-hand. My question: How could she then get the stamp? My assumption is, if going this route, my fiancé would need to make a second trip to the CFO to get stamped, upon getting her passport back?

I hate making assumptions, btw the way. Especially in matter of critical import. ;)
