Hello VJ's,

I'm US citizen and my household size is 2 (Me and my wife), I will make a petition for my parents, How much i suppose to make to be eligible to sponsor my parents. I will have two application. (one for my father and one for my mother).

You can file just one 1-130 for your parents. List your dad as main beneficiary and under spouse put your moms name...The filing fee is $420.

If you mean income by how much i suppose to make...that process starts later on when USCIS hands over case to NVC. Their income requirements are on the following link:

Good advice... Just remember the link for Income Requirements will differ effective March 1st 2015. I have not been able to see the change yet. So, whatever that maybe that will be the NEW Requirement for 125% Poverty Guildlines after March 1st of 2015.

Send the I-130 now and worry about the income part later on! No worries if you don't meet requirements you can send a joint sponsor. They could be your siblings, aunt....You must make $29812 which is income required for 4 people.

Note: These poverty guidelines remain in effect for use with Form I-864 , Affidavit of Support, from March 1, 2014 until new guidelines go into effect in 2015.

yes thats correct it changes 300 here and there...for I-912 fee waiver it change about $700-$900...just file little over 30k and you'll be fine...No one can really predict the actual income. Edited February 15, 2015 by Jot18

LOL.. Were not H&R BLOCK. I don't know what your Tax is.. That has nothing to do with your first question and has nothing to do with sponsoring/filing forms. Your Petition should include your Gross Income and Proof.

I think you don't know that to be sponsor you have to show your tax on last year showing how much your income...

that's incorrect, you cannot file one petition, there are no derivatives on parent's petitions he must file 2 petitions one for each parent

yes they will put each other's information, but it's that just information

I believe you are thinking about LPR or legal permanent residents filing for spouses and minor children, but parents of a USC are filed separately

I'm currently petitioning my parents. You need one I-130 petition per parent. At the NVC stage you will submit 2 AOS forms, one for each parent, but on each one your total household size will be 3 (you, spouse and parent the AOS is for) and your income amount needed will be based on 3 people.

My wife filed the I-130 for her parents almost two years ago. She had to submit two I-130 (one for mom, and one for dad) which means you need to pay the $420 fee twice (one for each application). We wrote two checks, actually got Cashier Checks from the bank, and in the memo line of the check wrote I-130 - then the beneficiary's (parents) name the fee was for.

Unless the instructions changed in the last two years, my wife included the following basic documentation for the I-130:

Mom:

Proof of Petitioners Citizenship Status (Copy of Naturalization Certificate)

Copy of Petitioners Birth Certificate

Dad:

Proof of Petitioners Citizenship Status (Copy of Naturalization Certificate)

Copy of Petitioners Birth Certificate

Copy of father's marriage certificate showing married to mother before petitioners birth

PLEASE verify the documents that you need and the amount by reading the I-130 instructions. Where you actually send your I-130 package depends on where you live. I recommend that you send both petitions together in the same envelope. I also recommend sending a G-1145 so you can get an email and/or text message when the lockbox processes your petitions. Usually the order that we put the documents in is Check, G-1145, I-130, supporting evidence. Then repeat it for the other parent.

Each I-130 will receive its own receipt number, and generally family cases are bundled together so they are processed at the same time. For example the approval date of the I-130 for my in-laws (even though two different cases) where both approved on the same day.

In terms of how much money you need to financially support them (I-864) I would not worry about it now since that is done during the NVC stage which is going to be months from now.
