What would you have done differently?

Hello everyone,

I'm probably not as upset as others (but still upset!) about the wait times for the service centers. And seeing as there's no feasible way for me to speed up the process, I decided to post a question. I mean, everyone's case is special, and (most of) these cases involve strong relationships with their loved ones, so even if there was a paid means of expediting the process, it would still be a crowded process.

So my question is, what have you done to save time on the visa, or what didn't you do that would have made things a lot easier for you?

Trying to be as prepared as possible for when we apply in a few weeks' time. Looking forward to your responses!

Having entered as a visitor without immigrant intent, I would have adjusted.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Known about and prepared better for the infernal consular process -- specifically, front-loaded the petition package far more. Of course, there was no knowing at that time that Guayaquil was or had turned into a hellhole, but this can happen anywhere, without warning, when a new Section Chief of the Immigrant Visa Unit takes over.

Worked longer back home and saved up more money.

The process has been fairly easy so far for me, the only main problems have been the wait for everything once I got here.

I'd have stayed home for longer and saved up a decent amount of money.

Well, I didn't know I was eligible to expedition and just requested close to the 6 months mark... Expedition request was approved and right after my approval but I guess it would just normally happen due to the regular processing time..If I knew that before I could be there sooner but the important thing is that everything will eventually work out!!

There was nothing that could be done differently to speed up the wait time. Looking back over it all, it just required more patience on our part. Considering the entire process took place within 11 months, it really wasn't that long. Energy was being wasted on being anxious, for the most part.
