Hello,

A little confused, my husband filed my I130 petition with my maiden name, my international passport is in my maiden name, if I go ahead and procure a passport in my married name, would it complicate our application? NVC already has a copy of my bio data, would NVC have answers or do I contact the NIGERIAN embassy. We are already paid fees for AOS AND IV, waiting to send in civil documents to NVC. Thank You.

You inform NVC that you wish to use your married name. You can include a letter with your IV package.

Thank You, would do just that.

No answers!! Just curious at ur sudden decision to change name!! Don't get unnecessary online attention to urself and case it may backfire Lagos is crazy be wise[/quo

Lagos is crazy for relationships that are not genuine. I noticed most of posts are so judge mental, I can seek information where ever I want, it's not a sudden decision, either way I would change my name, wanna know if it's better here or abroad. Do you think people that has been waiting for their loved ones are fake petitions, try F2A VISAS if you are fraudster and wait 2 to 3 years. Please post wisely.

If u really went tru my posts you will realize i have passed and completed this journey long before u even started. We will be waiting to hear ur story after interview

why are you so bitter? You wish my visa won't be granted. It's not UPTO you. Like you said, you hear my story soonest, it's people like you, that give Nigeria it's bad name, years after immigration you still come to the forum, not to encourage people that are going this crazy process, but to make them feel bad, as if the immigration separation is not torture enough. Please and please again, post wisely.

I NEVER tortured you but only gave you hard lines and facts that will you fail to agree with.

Read tru my posts and you will learn alot! When you going tru a decision like change of passport especially for someone going tru an LPR why the sudden awareness to change name knowing ur case is now at NVC not like a change of name will positively or negatively impact ur case.

You had all the time most probably a year or two ago to change why now?

These are questios u will face most especially when u.portrayed that it was technically for the purpose of GC and interview name changes are done for far more serious reasons than those.

The VO on that thread is smart just like her colleagues and if you dont thread with wisdom and caution you will receive a shock!!!

Husband decisions, not mine. I do not have the time to even goes through the hurdles of changing passport, because Abuja is the only place it can be changed, I asked the CO about it Sept 2013, she advised us to use my maiden passport since it has not expired, that a proof of marriage certificate would be just fine. It's left for me to convince hubby, change of name can be done in the US. I am married to him for life, and like most African men, he wants his wife to bear his name. We have a lot more documents to proof genuine relationship than you can ever imagine. We are not afraid, the difficult stage is almost over, which is the wait. Thank You for your input anyway.

I am facing the same challenge...my passport is in my maiden name and my husband filed with my marital name. Initially I thot it was going to cause issues until I mailed Lagos embassy.

I was told its not an issue since I have my marriage cert and other documents to support. The only thing is that my visa will be printed in the name on my passport.

I must commend you and doshi8000, though hot initially but friendly at the end....good naija spirit. God bless you both.

have a great day.
