Ok, so here's the thing. I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with PCOS. Yesterday I got a call from the doc telling me that they also found some cancer cells, but when I tried to call I couldn't get ahold of him to explain to me what they were exactly. First I had a hard enough time trying to figure out how to tell my in-laws that I have PCOS and if it doesn't clear enough I won't be able to have children, now I have to figure out how to tell them that I might have cancer too! I wont be able to go in for a biopsy until we get back, so we wont know much about the cells until then.

Anyone have any advice how to tell them and explain to them that it's not terminal and it doesn't mean I can't have kids at all?! I'm afraid if I let only my husband translate he will leave something out and I will be surrounded by crying women. Please help! Thanks.

Wow, I hate to hear that you're going through this! Please don't think the worst. I've known several women who have had pre-cancerous cells and it's turned out just to be something the doctors want to continue to monitor.

Maybe you could leave the cancerous cell part out of your conversation to your in-laws? Just until you know exactly what is going on. There's no need for them to worry unnecessarily, because when you get back and actually talk to your doctor, you may find out that it's not serious.

I hope everything goes well and you hear good news! Meanwhile, enjoy your trip to Morocco!

That was what I was wondering, too- do you really have to discuss your medical conditions with your in- laws before you know specifics?

Hope all is good!

Janine I'm so sorry.

I wouldn't say a word about anything until you know what's happening. It's already hard enough to try to translate things- especially when it's about your medical condition. I would wait until you get back and know what's going on exactly.

I'm sorry for that you are going thru all this. Insha'allah, you will do very well!

This is something between you and your husband, and you need to agree between yourselves how to handle it. I would advise leaving your in laws out of it until and unless it begins to affect you noticably. You need to enjoy your trip and starting off with confusing and overwhelming information won't allow you to do that.

 good advice so far.... I also had pre-cancerous cells many years ago and it was no biggie - caught early and taken care of. Leave them out of it till you know what's going on and what your options are down the road. No need to un-necessarily worry anyone - INCLUDING YOURSELF!! Now, enjoy that trip....... (F)

Thannks everyone! It's this internal debate going on in my head wether to tell them or not. I guess it's just a matter of what exactly the doc says when I talk to him. But I think I will wait to tell them. It might be better if they aren't worrying about me until we get it all taken care of. Thanks everyone!

My daughter, Jessica was diagnosed about 6 years ago. She had several abnormal paps and finally a leep procedure. She had a weak cervix, they advised against ever getting pregnant. She was devastated. Shortly after the surgery, she buys the EPT and ...........2 lines

Her Dr suggested she terminate the pregnancy and that fell on deaf ears. All her life she has wanted one thing, to be a good mom. 8 months later the beautiful Ms. Lexy was born.

Doctors can advise, but they don't know what Allah has in our future. Have faith and my only suggestion would be if you are to tell the family, have your husband tell one of the ladies, to tell the others. Men get so uncomfortable discussing this in mixed company.

Have a great trip!

I don't have anything to add about your dilemma, but I know quite a few women with PCOS and most of them have been able to concieve-- it just took a LOT of patience and trying. There are a lot of support groups online when it comes time for that for you!

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Sorry I missed this earlier. Go and have a good time. Consider it a vacation from your health worries as well as for your mind. When you get back, concentrate on doing what you can for your health and tell the inlaws later on down the road.

I agree with everybody, you should wait and see what's really going on and not worry yourself, let alone your Moroccan relatives. Something might get lost in translation, it might turn out to be nothing when you get home, inshallah and you'll worry everybody for no reason.

I wouldn't be able to have a nice vacation having these thougths on the back of my mind (i'm sure it'll be more than just on the back of your mind). Maybe, you should tell them something, cause they'll know there's something going on even with the language barrier - I spoke with my MiL in english and she spoke arabic, and we knew what was going on... when we needed to. So, I'd suggest you tell something, but sugar coat it somehow - let them know you're worried, but it's not definite... OK. I hope it all goes well and you'll be fine, inshallah

That girl is soooooooo ADORABLE! I hope I won't become a grandma soon, but when I do, I want a girl like your Lexi, jmagayreh!!!

I have PCOS and I am now pregnant and really it wasn't anything out of the norm. You may want to be tested for isulin resisitance, by controling the amount of carbs I take in I have been able to control the situation without medication and was able to regulate myself. As far as the testing, cancerous or pre-cancerous cells, you can get a lot of false positives and usually you have to go back and they find nothing there after the last test noted irregularities. I wouldn't panic just yet. As far as getting pregnant, I was pregnant only 4 months after are marriage without doing anything special.

 First I want to give you a thumbs up! You are an amazing woman, this is something you are going through and all you can think about is your in-laws and how they will accept the situation.

From reading other members advise, it seems everything will be ok. I dont think you should sare anything with them until you know for sure. If it comes down to you not being able to conceive, I would suspect that they should be more concerned about your well being first. Enjoy your trip

What a beautiful child, Jackie! When I was about 4, I climbed up to a high shelf that my father didn't think I could reach to get the electric shaver he cut my brother's hair with, turned it on, and ran it up one side of my head from front to back before anyone stopped me. At least she still has bangs
