We didn't notice that our name was wrong on both paper and now we are waiting for our case number that transferring to Thailand and I found out that my fiancé' last name was not correct. We worried that gonna effect our case and put it on hold.

Your case is being transferred to your local NVC now so until that happens you cannot do anything anyway.

Wait for your case number and then you can contact them directly.

Rin's name was wrong on her NOA1. I think on the actual NOA there is contact information. So I contacted them and they put in a request to correct it. Made it all the way to the Bangkok Embassy wrong. Asked them about it and they said it is not important as they have all the original documents anyway with the correct spelling. Visa was issued in April 2007. Got an NOA from USCIS in June (9 months after original contact) correcting the spelling. I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are sure what you sent in had the correct spelling on the forms.

This can be taken care of at the embassy because its there that her passport enters into the case.

John had that experience as you see.

Welcome to the forum.

Currently your file is not with USCIS (Department of Homeland Security), it is likely in the possession of the NVC (Department of State) transferring to the interviewing embassy/consulate (Department of State). To contact USCIS at this point, would likely be of little use. Your next opportunity to try to effect a change is likely at the visa interview at the embassy/consulate. You could attempt to contact the embassy/consulate via email. Check the Embassy Info section, easily accessible at the top of the forum page, for more information.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

It can be taken care of at the embassy. We had the same issue with Pui. I emailed them and just said to have a copy of the bio page of her passport when we sent in packet 3. She got her visa. I would still contact them to let them know. Only thing I noticed is she did receive a different A# with her AOS and I asked about it and they said to go with the new A#.

Wow time flies. Less then 2 weeks until she can apply to become a USC.

AOS Journey

11-04-2011 sent AOS to Chicago lockbox

11-07-2011 delivered

11-08-2011 Date on text messages but did not receive until 11-22-2011

11-23-2011 Check cashed.

11-25-2011 Hard copies of NOA1s

12-06-2012 Pui's Brother unexpectly passes away and we make an info pass appointment and receive an emergancy AP so she can return home. Pui leaves for Thailand for 2 weeks.

12-06-2012 Get a text message and email that she received an RFE

12-12-2012 RFE for original birth certificate. I swear we sent it along with a certificate translation of it.

12-20-2012 Pui returns from Thailand.

12-21-2012 We send the RFE back for with original birth certificate along with a new certificate of translation(I had to wait for her to return for her to sign)

12-26-2012 text and email they have received the RFE.

12-29-2012 Appointment for biometrics is 01-23-2012

01-13-2012 AP is approved.

01-23-2012 Biometrics appointment. Later during the evening the text and email saying the EAD is approved.

01-31-2012 EAD/AP combo card arrives.

05-22-2012 Email and text card is in production!

Great to hear she will become a USC soon. Its an incredible reward of real freedom and worth every minute of the efforts required.
