Vaccinations that I NEED for i-693

I know that the uscis site has a list of required vaccinations but if I go to the CDC site and do their "quiz" for the shots that I need, the results are different and their site with a table for age appropriate shots are different too. E.g. Hep B is just "may be recommended for you based of life style i.e.contact risk" instead of being a requirement as shown on USCIS site. And USCIS site seems dependent on CDC's info so im not sure whether I should follow CDC or USCIS.

SO what shots do I need? Im 23 yr old, female, if that helps.

Any recommendations for places to get cheaper vaccincations as well?

Called local health department and they said they stopped adminstering shots to adults.

Checked walgreens and cvs, walgreen is cheaper but still hundreds of dollars.

Im in IL, an hour away from chicago.

I did in a clinic run by the state.

I also payed a lot of money for it, but they were cheaper than any store. They also carried a book with translation for many different languages, so they put all my vaccines on the systems, from the records I had from my country, which serve as a vaccination record in English.

The nurse told me they had cheaper vaccines from the state (25 dollars varicella vs 115 for the normal one(other place I found cost 135), but to my luck they only had the expensive varicella one. They had cheaper ones from the other vaccines I needed however.

To me was more important to do things quick, so I didn't shop around too much, but I was happy having a record on the system here, and no need for a translation of my records.

They also had information of the exact vaccines I needed to take, as she showed me a print of the USCIS requirements she had, with age and everything.

I would go with the requirements by the USCIS, as it is whom you dealing with.

Best of luck to you!

I never had any vaccinations so I need nothing translated. I had chicken pox before but no medical record so I guess I need a titer for that. I want to do it quick too so im more focused on what shots I need to get, what shots did you get and how old were you? :/

I'm 32 and a male, and women require additional vaccine(s).

I had many other vaccines already, I had the flu shot (which some clinics provides for free, especially on flu season), a varicella, a tetanus and a MMR (I had an MMR already, and another measles, but per instructions I needed 2 MMRs, and just the shot of measles didn't count.

She only put on the computer the vaccines I needed on record for the. USCIS, which was.

MMR 2

Tetanus (I had one done just over 10 years, and they must be no more than 10)

Polio

Influenza

Dipt-tatan-pertu

Menomune

If you need two doses, you have to wait one month before you can get the second dose.

I just sent with the single dose of varicella, but I now got an RFE, don't know yet, if it is because of the vaccine, but if it is, I can just send that now.

I figured it would be quicker to send away instead of waiting a month just because of one vaccine.

I had my biometrics taken already, but now I have to wait for the RFE letter.

Wrong....CDC "recommends" to all adults at your age:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Influenza annually (especially during season)
  • MMR
  • HPV for female
  • HepB
  • H. Influenzae Type B
  • IPV

You should have those and should be able to prove them. You will not need varicella vaccine, when you had chicken pox (no titer needed).

USCIS decides based on the recommendation of the CDC. So if you don't have any of them, you should get them.

Also: Not having the vaccines and catching a disease costs more $$$ than paying for the vaccines.

You don't need Rotavirus (only children are affected), Pneumococcal and meningococcal vaccines, unless you are at risk i.e. no spleen etc.

Everything is pretty clear in the CDC tables.

One dose is enough to submit your i-693, that's what it says on the website so you probably need to submit other stuff.

See, that table is the one I was talking about. The one in purple says recommended based on risk and lifestyle, and in the quiz on the CDC website itself, if I put that I will be travelling internationally, then I will need shots like Hep B, if not I wouldn't need it. So not sure if I dont have to take the shot since I am not travelling. And how do

I prove that I have chicken pox then?

I never had vaccines since i was a kid and never got anything worst than slight fever, I'm actually against vaccines because it has so many side effects but I do not want to affect my chance of getting a green card.

BTW thank you both for responding!

Call the office(s) of the Civil Surgeon who will be completing your i-693. They will be able to tell you what vaccines you need to have records for.

I am a 32 year old female. Before my civil surgeon appointment I got the TDap booster at my university clinic and a flu shot at CVS (insurance covered both of these). The flu shot is required by USCIS if you file during flu season.

I took vaccination records to show I had received the MMR and Polio vaccine. They asked me if I had chicken pox as a child and I confirmed I had.

Okay, I emailed CDC and plan to call USCIS later on to ask about it because there's too many contradicting information on their sites.

So basically for chicken pox, I don't have to take any test to prove I had it? Thanks!

I'm not sure you will get clear answers from those places. They may just refer you to the nformation on their websites. my advice was to call the doctor's office you will attend for the signing of the form. The USCIS website directs you to look at this page :http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html

Based on the table there. You will need to have:

MMR

TDaP

Flu vaccine (if applying during flu season)

everything else is either no longer required by USCIS (e.g. HPV) or is deemed not to be age appropriate.

You need to remember when looking at the CDC website and tables that their reccomended schedules apply to the general US population, not just immigrants.

They have other tables that confuses me that's why i dont know which table to follow. It would be great if it's just those 3 because i hate injections lol you have been very helpful! Thank you so much!!!!

Honestly the best bet is as someone suggested here, to ask the civil surgeon.

The cdc site is contradicting as hell.

Middle pic : says hpv not needed anymore

First pic: supposedly shows updated 2015 table and states hpv is still required.

Last pic: yet another table on their site but this one doesnt show hpv at all!
