Hey all,

For all of you that have went through Cairo I was just wondering if there is a list of interview questions somewhere for Cairo Embassy? My honey should be getting scheduled for his interview sometime here in the near future. Also - when they send out the packet 3/4 is it in english or in arabic? Thanks.

The instructions Mohammed received with his packet were mostly in both Arabic and English. The forms are in English. The questions he was asked were very specific to our case. I would spend some time identifying your "red flags" or things they may question and spend some time concentrating on those things. Some examples are: age difference if there is one, divorce, previous marriages, how you met, etc.

It depends on the CO whether or not they will ask questions or which questions they'll ask. I'd prepare yourselves with basic questions such as...where does your wife live? How did you meet? How many times did she come to visit? Stuff like that. I see you're doing a K1..they tend to ask K1s more than K3s.

Good luck to you (F)

BTW...like others have said, packet 3 is in Arabic and English. I see that your case left the NVC yesterday. Your fiance will prob get his packet 3 within a month and depending upon how fast he returns it he'll prob be scheduled for an interview within 3 months. Sorry for the bad news but Cairo doesn't work very fast. Our case left NVC in Sept., the interview was in Dec. We're currently on mandatory AP.

I got really really snipping in a few emails to the embassy re: their incompetance, and we actually got an interview faster! I wouldn't recommend it though. I think they may have felt bad that they sent us back our submissions for packet 3 asking for his birth certificate, when we had included the birth certificate the first time around and it was in the stack of stuff they returned to us.

Hi,

Can anyone help me to confirm something. We sent our initial papers out 2 weeks ago. Today we recieved a reciept in the mail. Is this our NOA1? What will happen next ? I know that our lawyer is now going to send the reciept and other papers now. But what next for us? "

Thanks a bunch

Yes, this is most likely your NOA1. You can now file the I129F.

Ummm... I was actually requested by the embassy to please stop emailing. I blew my cork a few times as well. Then I got fed up with not receiving replies so started the "2nd request", "3rd request", "4th request" doo doo. That's when they said STOP EMAILING! And I did... for awhile.

I think they understand this is hard on everyone involved. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

For Cairo, does he have to get everything, like the police report, his birth certificate and his military papers (I can't think of anything else) translated? I think I remember reading that someone didn't get their papers translated and it was ok. I want to have everything done but he said if it needs to be done he has to do it one at a time. I asked why and he told me to get our marriage contract translated it cost him $150 pounds!!! I was like are you serious? He said yes he had to pay $50 pounds to get some stamp, then $50 for something else, then another $50 for the translation. It's like a three step process, so that will mean a total of $450 pounds if he has to get it all translated. Not a huge deal but since he's kind of in a bind right now it just sucks. And of course he gets made if I offer to pay for it.

well.. you got to understand the Conversion rate too... When you say 450 LE... this is only about $79 american dollars.. 50le is about $8.75.. (which is not that bad).. the stamp thing is just stupid.. we had to do that too.. Run all around the city for these stupid stamps  You can get his birth cert and military papers translated here for about 20/ 25 bucks... the Police report(i later learned about this) is Only valid for 3 months... So i would wait on that one.. until you know when your interview is and he'll have to probably translate it there. As far as I know.. everything has to be translated in English - i wouldnt risk it

You're right. I don't want that to hold us up.

I never understood the whole conversion thing. I didn't do too well in Economics. I mean I know that 1 us dollar = 5.whatever pounds but I always thought it was all relative, you know? Like I figured still, 1 pound bought them the same there as 1 dollar would here. Someday I'll look all this up. . . in my spare time with two kids...hahahahahaha
