I had my Montreal CR1 interview on Monday, February 9, 2015. Everything was in order except for the fact that consular officer could not issue the visa as the I-864 was signed with an electronic signature as opposed to a pen. When he saw I was upset, he advised me that everything else was approved and this was minor and should be resolved 3-4 weeks from when I send them the document. I sent the document yesterday but I am worried. My husband was supposed to come pick me up on March 2nd and we have our religious celebrations and reception on April 9-11. Does anyone have a similar situation and how long did it take to resolve?? :crying: After everything to be refused is so tough...and the notice advises 6-8 weeks to process.....which is the same timeframe as our reception.... :clock:

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hello, I hope that everything worked out for you! I am in a similar situation. I was missing an original document at my interview and was told that as soon as I sent it in things would be approved/completed.

My question is, how long from the time you sent in your document did it take for you to receive your visa?

Loomis shows that my document was delivered to the consulate on July 03/15.

Thanks!

Stephanie

I am sorry to burst the bubble but I was missing an original I-864 as well and the officer told me the same thing on May 27. My document was received by the consulate on June 4. Over a month now, and still the status is ready.

I would say prepare yourself for a ride just in case it doesn't come through. The backlog is one of the main reason I would like to think it's long but from previous posts, it looks like Montreal is quite slow.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma . My lawyer told me last minute that I need I-864 original signed and not photocopy. Thankfully it was FedEx to me but it cost my in laws $70. I think NVC should mention on the list of documents to bring in and state how important I-864 is.

Of course you need the original I-864. I'm unsure how anyone is not aware that the US government would need an original signed document when it's a legally binding contract. You had to send an original signature on the I-130 and G-325a.

Being that this thread is 2 years old. The processing time would not be the same as now.
