I filed our CR-1 visa DCF in Bangkok Jan.16 and I'm now sitting on pins and needles waiting. There was a slight delay as the USCIS office needed copies of an old divorce in the US, but I sent it EMS and I got an email saying they received it and a adjudication officer was reviewing. They have been very helpful and responded quickly to the emails I've sent them.

My question is when should I be getting our NOA2?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi Dave and Angel,

Did you you mail your application to the embassy or deliver it in person? How long did it take before you heard back from them, and did they respond by email or snail mail?

We mailed our IR-1 application from Phuket via EMS on Feb 11, and anxiously waiting to hear back.

Best of luck to you.

Hi Curt,

We delivered it in person and I glad we did. There were a few minor errors that we were able to fix there and get the ball rolling right away. They are really great about answering questions via email and many are answered within 1 day. I would send them an email asking if they received your package.

In the most resent email from them it said it takes 60 days for them to process my CR-1, but it also said to check back in 2 weeks which would make it about 2 weeks early .

Dave,

Thanks for your resonse.

Is this the email address that you use to contact the embassy? I will contact them.

BKKCIS.Inquiries@uscis.dhs.gov

I would have preferred to deliver the the application to the embassy in person, but I had to return to the U.S. to start a new job. I was extra careful preparing the package, and hopefully got it right the first time.

My wife will travel to her family home next week to obtain a copy of her birth certificate and get that translated.

Yes, that us the right one. It's a shame you can't be here to fix anything that may need correcting.

After the your wife gets the translation make sure she goes to the Foreign Affairs Department and has an official seal put on the translation. Some of the larger towns do have translation services that send it down to Bangkok for the stamp. If not she with need to go herself.

Good luck in he new job.

Dave and Angel,

Congrats! That's wonderful news. Hard to believe you got approved in just over 1 month. Sure hope our application goes as quickly and smoothly, but I won't be surprised if they find a minor error or two since we we're not able to have it looked over at the embassy before submitting it.

When you receive the package from the embassy please let us know what they ask for, and what they say about scheduling the interview.

Curt, get your paperwork ready as things are really flying filing DCF. When you get your IV packet send Yo to Bangkok for her police clearance and medical. The police clearance will take 3 weeks and Angel said they can't offer "express service" wink, wink anymore.

Dave and Angel

They still offer 1 week express service for around 1500-1600 baht.

Dave,

Thanks for the heads up. I want to prepare everything I can in advance, but I'm not sure what else we will need that we haven't already submitted with the I-130, except for her birth certificate and translation, the police report and the medical exam. The DS-260 appears to be mostly a repeat of the I-305. My understanding is that you are not required to submit copies of school records.

Can you pay the fee for the DS-260 online with a U.S. credit card? Do they tell you which police office in Bangkok to go to for the police report, or can you go to any of the major ones?

Thanks.

Curt,

In the IV packet will be your important case number. Also it will tell you where to go for your wife's medical. There are only two listed. and it will run about 5300 baht. There is also directions to which police department to go to get the police clearance.

@RobertAtlantaUSA,

As of last week Angel asked for the "express service", but was told they could not offer that "service" anymore at any price.
