How to Package i-130 Materials for Consulate/Embassy

Greetings,

My wife and I are preparing to submit our i-130 application and supporting materials (scans of legal documents, photo collage printouts, etc).

Only one question remains: How to package everything?

Assuming that this is the type of thing that can delay or (perhaps) speed-up the process, we want to do it right.

What are our options?

What did you do?

Is there an ideal approach?

My wife is leaning towards a folder with plastic sleeves to hold the pages. I'm hesitate to go this route knowing that they'll likely want to easily access the actual pages... without having to fumble around with plastic sleves. So while it's nice for presentation, this approach doesn't seem wise. Thoughts?

I has the idea to use a three-ring binder and simply hole-punch the documents and such. This terrified my wife (we're in Russia :)). I can see where she's coming from, and it's likely not possible to put holes in some of the forms without messing them up. So yeah, this doesn't seem to be a wise approach either. Are we wrong?

And here we are... still trying to decide on the best approach. Many thanks for any feedback/insight you might have.

Hello

My husband filed his petition for me through Frankfurt in person and we just put everything in a big clip, no folders, sleeves, dividers, plastic etc. Any document that had more than two pages we just stapled together.

Once we got to the appointment window the guy checked our documents and *bang* put a huge staple through the whole lot.

I've just sent my IV package (snail mail this time) and again I put everything in just one clip. They've acknowledged receipt and there didn't appear to be any problems.

Hope this helps!

Good luck

Keep it simple. And I wouldn't do a binder and hole punch your documents!!

I did a cover sheet and listed everything I had forms and supporting documents. The pictures I just printed out and put date and location on the back. Then I put in a folder which went into a Fedex envelope.
