CFO Seminar - only one parent

I've been abandoned by my father since I was a little kid and am now just with my mother. I have no contact with my father which is why I have no way of getting him to sign my 'parental advice' for the CFO seminar.

Will my 'parental advice' letter still be accepted even with just my mother's signature?

P.S.

They were legally married

Yes your mother's signature is needed and as far as your father's signature, be sure to explain it to them if asked. I think you will not have a problem.

That will be fine, do make copies of your mother's ID to bring. come to CFO being self-assured and confident many times they don't ask for too many documents.

My fiancé was raised by her (now very elderly) grandparents, and for the past 5+ years, her Aunt. She has almost no contact with her biological parents--except when they want money from her.

Her aunt intends to provide her CFO Parental Advice Letter. Do you foresee any problems with that, Hank? Reading your above post I'm thinking either my fiancé should bring a copy of her aunt's ID, or perhaps just bring along her aunt in person?

TIA!

I know of some that brought the parent along as they didn't have ID.

Thanks, Hank. I'm actually more concerned about using my fiancé's aunt as opposed to her parent(s)? Have you heard of that before?

Bringing a copy of her aunt's ID, and/or having her aunt come along, will likely not be a problem.

Yes I have heard of it before. In this case it would be good for the Auntie to attend

Hi everyone. I'm.not sure with this but do you think CFO will accept my parental advise letter if I can only get my father's signature? My mom was gone for so long and can't even find her until now. This makes me overthink. Please help.

Thanks for input, Hank. I realize, of course, you can only provide input hear and general knowledge, and cannot predict exactly what will happen at CFO.

Akira, while I cannot answer your question directly, I can tell you my fiancé cannot get a letter from even one parent; let alone two. Her aunt was her legal guardian, for all intents and purposes, and now my fiancé is (obviously) an adult. So we'll see what happens, but I just don't see this a being a big issue at CFO, provided they employ common sense.

To be on the safe side, I'll also have my fiancé bring the same proof of a real relationship to the CFO that's she's bringing to the embassy. I actually strongly support CFO's mission, so it would be extremely ironic if they refused to give my fiancé her stamp.

It doesn't make a difference if you have either a Father or a Mother. If you have one or the other have them sign the document/letter and bring a copy of their ID. If no ID, then we suggest they attend your CFO interviewwith you. If you have been raised by a relative, then have them so state in your letter, sign and present their ID and the letter at the CFO interview. Either way this will satisfy the CFO interviewer.

I have to emphasize something that Hank stated.... go with confidence in your relationship and in yourself. Look the interviewer in the eye when answering the questions. If you appear to be weak they can and will fail you. So best smile, look them in the eye, give them only the information they ask for (don't volunteer information unless asked) and don't lie.

Good luck
