I've never flown with Virgin, but always hear great things about them (I just go for what's cheap and fits in with my dates/times though). I always seem to get Delta & American coming up cheapest, and yet when I booked flights for my mum to come over for a few days & visit me & the boy when I was there... Virgin came up cheapest (with the connecting flights with Delta, I think). Typical! (She was very happy, though... but why do I never get that?!)

I will only fly Virgin for a transatlantic.

I've only ever flown American transatlantic. My fiance has flown both American and United - said both were comparable in service, but his United experience was tainted somewhat by the hell that is Dulles airport. Seems like AA is always a slight bit cheaper for me so that's really the only reason I've stuck with them (and having all the FF miles now doesn't hurt either!).

Domestically, not as picky. Though I've been finding American not much more expensive than Southwest - particularly if Southwest's promotional fares are all sold out - in which case, AA is almost always cheaper.

I am about to fly Alitalia this Friday, from Germany to Rome and return Monday for 188 euro, or about 250usd, will see how that goes I guess....

Jodee

If you could would you post how that flight goes? They're offering really cheap flights lately but the reviews I've seen on epinion are horrific, though some people you just can't please.

I have flown on Alitalia one time from Madrid to Venice. It was a pleasant flight.

Even tho I preffer KLM/NWA, I had a pleasant experience flying with American to NL. Their service was great. Domestic I usually fly Delta but I looooove Midwest Airlines, they bake chocolate chip cookies on flight (smells heavenly on the plane) and all their seats are like first class!

Been to Korea three times to visit fiance

1 - Korean Airline - very nice, nonstop from NY, but $1400.

2 - United Airlines - had to stop in Japan on the way over and San Francisco on the way back, but the price was $750 including taxes and fees. Got it from a travel agency in Georgia which mostly deals with people who speak Korean.

3 - could not buy my ticket 7 days in advance from the agency in #2, so had to shop around on the internet. Paid about $1175 for United to California (slept in airport) then Singapore Airlines to Korea, on the way back stopping in California again. Singapore Airlines is very nice.

I'm pretty loyal to Delta ONLY because we have their sky miles card. And between all the flights I have taken to Istanbul over the past 2 years, and all the flights my wife has made from there to here, we've accumulated nearly 60,000 sky miles a piece. One day when she finally gets her green card, we are going to take a nice relaxing trip somewhere  (we've been thinking about going to Tokyo).....................and try to recover from this immigration headache. After 2 years of being apart, we NEED a vacation...and a break!

If it weren't for having a sky miles card with Delta, I wouldn't care what airline I fly with. And, even with the sky miles card, if I find a really good deal with another airline, I'm willing to fly with them. (For example, last spring , we flew with "ATA" to Chicago...because they were nearly $100 a person cheaper , at that time, for the trip.)

Whoever (1) isn't Delta (2) has the best connections and (3) is cheapest, in that order.

Can barely even find direct flights to see my family on the other side of the country, let alone G's in the UK, so connections are crucial.

Traveling from Prague to San Francisco and back I like using European carriers, since they have a wide selection of one-stop flights. Lufthansa would be my favorite, then KLM; BA are pretty good also, but I really don't like Heathrow! I only used American carrier once (Continental) and the whole trip took almost 24 hours, flying Prague - Paris - Houston - San Francisco. Never again!

I like to fly KLM because it is part of NWA. Using them gives me more free miles under my World Perks. After you get a certain amount of miles travel you get a free ticket. So if you will be traveling a lot you should try to sign up for something like this. You may eventually be able to fly free oneday.

we've pretty much stayed loyal to American Airlines since my move to the US -- they have the best rates and routes/schedules for us when flying to Halifax, and we've never (knock on wood!) had problems with our luggage.
