Need help plse

Hello to everyone want to get som insight to my question, i brought my child to my mother to be take care of her in Ghana when she was a year old but i want to take her with me back to the US.I will be coming to Ghana in a weeks time to support my Fiance at his interview at the embassy and am hoping to go back with both of them to be one big happy family.

Unfortunately my childs documents with her birth certificates and everytin got destroyed in a fire a year ago and am at lost as to how i can take her with me or if there is anyone i can contact here in the US or Ghana as to how i can travel back with me .Any answers and help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks

Does your child have a claim to US citizenship through you? If so, simply file a CRBA and obtain a US passport for them. If not, you will need to petition your child through the regular I-130 process, and this would take around a year to be completed.

At a minimum you will need to obtain new certified copies of the child's documentation, such as their birth certificate.

Thanks for ur iput,..the child was born in the states specifically Philadelphia before i brought her to Ghana and also how do i get a copy of her certified birth certificate and wats the process like

Did the child travel on a US passport to Ghana ? You can get a certified birth certificate copy through several places https://www.vitalchek.com/birth-certificates/pennsylvania/pennsylvania-vital-records that is probably one of the easiest.

You will need two things to bring your baby home.

First, you need a certified birth certificate. You can request one from the county recorder office where the child was born.

Second, with the certified birth certificate, go to the U.S. embassy and get a U.S. Passport for your child.

By applying for a passport at the US embassy u mean the one in Ghana right cos was wondering if i can apply for one for her if she is not physically present in the states

The local embassy should be able to arrange travel documentation, contact them.

Either obtain a fresh US passport or the embassy can provide a transportation letter at no charge.

I had a friend that lost (or got stolen) the US passport while traveling to Asia,

and had to reacquire it from local US embassy, so I'm sure if you contact

the US embassy in Ghana they should be able to help you...like mentioned above.

You can always get your child's birth certificates from the county where the child was born.

My kids were born in Illinois but I'm in Texas now,

but I was able to request this via online and paid $15 per certificate

plus ~$25 express shipping fee.

If you are going to request the birth certificate,

you might as well get multiple copies so that you have some

extra for future use...like for school registration, etc.
