I am getting ready to send the document to the NVC for the immigrant visa package( supporting document for the DS-260 ). In the guide here in VJ it says to "-Two passport-style photographs (2" x 2") of beneficiary (on the back, write: beneficiary's full name, date of birth, and case number)" ones the IV fee appear as PAID in the CEAC the IV packet must be sent to the NVC which include the passport size photo.

I am confused if whether it the passport size photo must be submitted to the NVC or will it be ok to submit it during the interview.

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/general/photos/frequently-asked-questions.html

  • If you are applying for a nonimmigrant visa by filling out the DS-160 or DS-1648 online form, then you must submit a digital image using the online application
  • If you are applying for an immigrant visa using Form DS-260, then you must provide two (2) identical photos at your immigrant visa interview
  • If you are entering the Diversity Visa Program, then you must submit a digital image as part of your entry.
  • If you are applying for an immigrant visa as a Diversity Visa Selectee, you must provide two (2) identical photos at your immigrant visa interview
In Step 5: Collect Supporting Document, under the Photograph, it doesn't say anything if you have to submit it at the NVC or during the interview. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html
Thank you!

I'm confused about this as well because on the checklist it doesn't state the 2x2 passport pic.....it just says copy the bio page of the passport

I am not sure about the K-1 visa but I am doing the IR-1/CR-1 like you. On the NVC checklist, where it has photographs. It is referring to the 2 passport photos here is a link from the NVC site that shows what supporting documents are needed for NVC

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html click on photographs and it will show that 2 passport photos are needed

. I am doing the IR2 and I actually read the link ( I also include that in my post) but unlike other document, nothing under the passport size picture clearly state that it should be mailed to the NVC together with other photocopy of civil document. In the frequently asked question, it says that the applicant should bring 2 identical 2x2 pics if it is for DS-260 which we just did.

That is what is confusing since what is stated in Step 5 Collect Supporting Document > PHOTOGRAPH > PHOTO REQUIREMENT that: If you are applying for an immigrant visa, using Form DS-260, you must provide two (2) identical photos at your immigrant visa interview. Your photos must be:

  • Printed on photo quality paper
  • 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size

Since IR2 use DS 260, and since it is clearly stated in Step 5 that photocopies of all required civil documents be sent to the NVC, and that originals (or certified copies) and a photocopy of each of your required civil documents be submitted to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview. Since I assume that passport photo is considered original document, it is in my understanding that it should be submitted during the interview. UNLESS, I may have misunderstood what I read and that passport size pics are submitted 2 times, at the NVC and during the interview.

I will try to call NVC ( goodluck to me in doing that ) to clear this confusion of mine lolz. Unless, anybody here already had the concrete answer to my question.

I would just go ahead and send two passports photos in to nvc and bring 2 with you to interview just in case unless it is a problem to get 2 more passport photo, It will be not good for your visa to get delay for something so simple

:content::content: LMAO, well, you know that NVC won't accept negative, and even enhanced pictures, or even pictures that are outdated :D ... anyway, bottomline is that it is confirmed, the photo is not required to be submitted at NVC. However, it must be brought during the interview.
