letter from employer

I just mailed out my documents to the NVC. I realized something that perhaps could be a problem. To give evidence of my income, I sent a letter from my employer but that letter says that I earn $ X per month. It does not say how much I earn per year. I multiplied that amount by 12 to put my current income on the I-864. Could this be a problem because NVC is fussy???

r u sure? cos they might interpret that in weird ways. for example, someone could earn $ X monthly, but be employed for only 6 months out of the year. Then again, don't paystubs for the last six months achieve the same effect?-- they only show monthly earnings!

Yea I am quite sure about that. Check this. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/262503-what-current-income-to-enter-on-item-23-of-1-864/

Thanks ritbiv. The link you pointed gives a quote from the I-864 instructions: "You are not required to submit this evidence, however, unless specifically instructed to do so by a Government official. For example, you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer's address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary. "

So it looks like "indicating annual salary" is preferred. I hope I'll be ok with my letter indicating monthly salary...

Do not worry. They can calculate the annual salary from the weekly salary by multiplying. Several employers provide a letter indicating the weekly salary only. So that's perfectly fine.

The current income portion is about estimated income. There is no hard and fast rule that it should exactly match the amount of your current annual income. They just want a close estimate.
