Is it necessary to include bank records with the affidavit if I have a letter from my employer and my income is above the guidelines?

My fiance is from Colombia. Like you, my income was WAY above the guidelines and no, I did not include any bank statements. I just included my last 3 years tax returns, letter from my employer and about 2 or 3 months worth of paystubs (I think). I was over it by about 40 or 50 grand I think.

Usually bank statements are required for self employed people. If you work for someone and receive wage statements (Form W-2) then that is generally acceptable along with copies of tax returns. With self employed individuals, they ask for independent verification of income reported on the business schedule.

However, some have income that isn't reported, like disability income. In such a case you should provide bank statements along with a letter of explanation.
