Hi all, I've heard a few people mention that we have to fill out some kind of form and pay a fee to receive the actual green card. I don't want any delays in receiving it. We didn't receive any details from our embassy on how to do it. Do we have to wait until we enter the US for the first time with the visa or can we complete this in advance? If so, how do we go about doing it?

It's preferable to do it before you arrive in the US so there is no delay. Do a search for USCIS immigrant fee - it will take you a website called ELIS where you set up an account and pay the fee (and later will track progress of the case from this account). It is $165 per person.

Just to add: it doesn't matter how early you do it; the processing only begins once you get into the US. so 2 factors: payment in advance and entry. From entry, about 3-6 months is what they say; could be sooner though. Good luck.
