Why is Philippines auto expedited

I dont think it is auto-expedited. Some people are just PRO-ACTIVE. They would request for expedite because they think they qualify for one. Some people got approved, some dont.

US has a base almost everywhere (JAPAN, MIDDLE EAST countries) it has nothing to do with bases.

US and PI might have ties from long ago. It was once a colony of US but was just given its freedom.

So its a case to case basis. Dont take it on filipinos. We did not want the back to back to back typhoons and natural calamities. For sure, a lot of us (affected filipinos of typhoons) would trade the typhoon and the expedites and would just want to wait and be safe.

cry me a RIVER with your talk about cardboard boxes and typhoons. There are SEVERAL other countries experiencing various disasters (natural and unnatural) and they don't receive any preferential treatment like the Phillipines. Being proactive has nothing to do with being granted a hardship expedite. There are very, very few instances in which they apply and you can try all you want with no results. What does granting a fiance or marriage visa have to do with a typhoon anyway? To be honest they should SLOW down the process because of the typhoon due to people trying to use the visa to immigrate fraduently.

Well somehow this post wasn't a very encouraging one ..

We all know USCIS approves Philippines fast as it is because of this or that or whatever there is we think was the reason ..

But we all went to the same point of 'waiting'..

I feel sorry to the people whose waiting for a long time for that approval .. But comparing the processing days between Filipinos and you isn't really a nice thing to do ..

=It's not 'Filipinos' to blame ..

-i know people will judge me because if this post but you're welcome..

how is that harsh? I am saying please don't use the hardship of people living in cardboard boxes as a reason for expedite, as if there aren't any other people living in similar conditions around the globe. Nothing harsh or rude about it; those are the facts.

=It's not 'Filipinos' to blame ..

Sorry if you're taking this thread personal. :(

I don't think anyone's blaming the Filippinos for being expedited, we're just trying to understand why one nation is auto expedited and another is not?! Of course if someone's getting an automatic expedite, you're not gonna turn it down because it's unfair... If I was given an auto expedite, I would say thank you very much and be on my way. :)

Why I started this thread was to understand why the Philippines is on an auto expedite at the moment, whereas several other countries with much worse living conditions and downright dangerous warzones, are not auto expedited. It doesn't really make any sense, not to me anyway.

I guess it is just innate in us to be LUCKY and proactive at the same time.

And yes you have to be proactive. If you think you qualify for an expedite request for it. You cant just sit and wait for things to happen for you. Complain and whine why some people are being expedited.

Its how you present your case. Countries with high fraudulent case most likely will have slim chance of expedite.

I do not wish you would experience it. But just in case you will, you would know how it feels. thinking you might not see your spouse again.

For those who really deserve the expedites, im so happy for us.

And for those who were just in the right path when luck was showered, congrats.

I challenge anyone to list all the countries they think should get auto-expidites. Then list the reason why, specifically the date of disaster or event & percentage of the population you believe is impacted. Then google the population of the country. That will give you an estimate of the # of people impacted by said reason. PI has 100,000,000 people in it in a relatively small area. When a typhoon strikes, it can impact over 50% of the population easily. That's 50,000,000 people everytime. I'm sure no other country has 50,000,000 that can immediately be devastated every time an "event" happens.

50% is a total lie. 50,000,000 weren't affected. by your definition the entire economy of the Phillipines would have collapsed by now. so tell me how some woman sitting in her cozy apartment in Manila is affected by the typhoon? how are filipinos living in Hong Kong affected? Bangladesh is a pretty tiny country and they are always affected by typhoons and disasters yet there are no expedites for them.

Last winter, when there were tanks downtown Kyiv ( the capital city) and Putin has started the undeclared war ( moving Russian troops to the eastern border) nobody expedited our case. Because of the nature of my job - I had to work in the war zone. So we filed on the basis of humanitarian and financial loss reasons - apparently that was not important enough. They put us in AP for 3 months, so we couldn't file another expedite request we just had to sit and wait for 7 months total. But just to be fair, I heard that now, they are expediting people from the eastern part of the country, that is officially a war zone.

I read some threads where Syrians were denied expedited processing, which makes zero sense to me. You're right that some folks from eastern Ukraine (where the Russian invasion is claiming lives every day) are getting expedites, I'm not sure about those further west though.

From your timeline, I don't see where you were in AP though (just curious as my fiance is in Ukraine).

50% is wrong. The United Nations estimates that 9.5 million people were impacted and 620,000 lost their homes. While that is a lot of people, it represents 9.5% and .62% respectively.

OK, so maybe my #s were a little overexagerated. In the past 5 years, I've documented these significant disasters, which I will define as having affected more than 200,000 people. Some notable storms are probably missing as Wikipedia didn't contain the number of people affected.

More than just a little over exaggerated, but that's neither here nor there.

Anyway, that's not the point. The point is why is one natural disaster expedited without request and others aren't? Why did USCIS issue a formal announcement of relief for this one natural disaster and not other humanitarian issues? Why does a natural disaster mean they should get a visa sooner anyway? It's not as if the country hasn't sent aid to help. Again, only .62% of the population lost their homes...
