Hey guys!

Well, This has been bothering me for a while, When our interview date comes we will have nothing that will have both of our names on. we have our own bank accounts, we will have different insurance, The only thing that will be the same is our address on our ID cards.

If people knew we were married around here we would be in trouble, Also if his work find out he could get fired etc, stuff like that makes us scared, so we are protectind ourselves in the long run. But for proving a bona fide marriage without it, is that a bad thing? Do to think the officer will understand why we have separate stuff etc?

Also our marriage certificate is confidential.

The only thing we have is:

If I die he will have access to the money in my bank account.

photos of us.

my name on his car insurance.

we filled taxes as married for 2014 (will that help?)

I'm on his family plan contract.

Those are all we have. Will this be an issue?

I understand that you're worried but the US have strict laws governing discrimination. Surely, even in the most backwards, hillbilly corners of the deep south, there is still the law and the law says that someone cannot be fired based on religion, gender, sexuality, age etc. Judging from your profile, you live in Dallas though, which is a pretty open and cosmopolitan area.

I think you have good proof that you live together in a married relationship. You have proof that you live on the same address, photos, car insurance etc. Seperate bank accounts doesn't mean you're not in a "proper relationship" and likewise for seperate insurance so I don't think you need to worry there. I know lot's of couples who have seperate bills and bank accounts. That's very common in many parts of the world. I really don't think you have to worry.

Show the name on his insurance and family plan. The joint taxes is a major one for co-mingling so it will definitely help. Showing the same address on the IDs is good too, to prove you live together. For AOS they know you will not have much to show yet. When it comes time for ROC, you will need more spanning the entire length of your marriage, so start getting some things jointly to show. Even wills and health directives, and insurance policies naming each other as beneficiaries can be helpful, and practical for your life too.

We didn't have a large amount of evidence, we had the medical insurance at my work together, a joint bank account, family plan cell phone account, and we showed the adoption papers of a dog we got from a shelter. (and a lot of photos of us with our dog, going here and there)

Just show what you have.
