Married couples have option of filing jointly or separately. Filing jointly is recommended because of tax breaks but not required so since we got married in 2014 too, I decied to file separately and we will start doing joint returns once spouse is here,.

Also, you can technically be conisdered "unmarried" by the IRS for a number of reasons including nonsresident alien spouse.

10/01/15 - Called NVC, and got Interview Scheduled!! :dancing::dance::dancing:

10/06/15 - Received Interview Letter with Instructions (P4) via Email

10/09/15 - Received Interview Letter with Instructions (P4) via Mail

11/20/15 - Medical Appt.

11/23/15 - Biometrics Appt.

11/24/15 - Interview in Ciudad Juarez, MX - APPROVED!! :D

I'm really happy, we finally got our case number! Our case was sent by the USCIS on July 28, received by the NVC on August 3, and assigned a case number today, August 14!

I'm really happy, we finally got our case number! Our case was sent by the USCIS on July 28, received by the NVC on August 3, and assigned a case number today, August 14!

I just realized that we both share similar timelines. I also got my Case sent to NVC on July 28th, and NVC received my case on Aug. 3rd. I just got off the phone from NVC, and also they gave me my case number along with my IIN!

We are a step closer!! :joy:

Yes, I think all the applicants who had their cases received by NVC on August 3 might get their case numbers today. Awesome!

Just got off the phone with NVC, after 35 mins of waiting!

The lady told my hubby that they received our case on the 7th of August but they still don't have a case number for us nor IIN. Of course, she said it can take 4 weeks for them to assign a case # but i'm hoping that it won't take that long.

Ah, our case was sent from USCIS to NVC, on the 3rd of August.

I'm getting sooo impatient!!!

Congrat to everyone approved.... I just got to the U.S. With my son who turned 5 yesterday , he i130 is approved since July 24th and sent to nvc of the 4th havent called them yet to get a case no, was wondering since he's here already is they will do he's interview here if I request for it, or he still need to go back to Africa for it???!?

Wow. Mine was sent to NVC August 3rd and got there the seven as well. I will call on Friday to see if I have a case number.

Wow. Mine was sent to NVC August 3rd and got there the seven as well. I will call on Friday to see if I have a case number.

I called again today (I'm impatient-don't judge me). Got thru the first time i dialed then waited 25 minutes. Guy that answered was very laid back and friendly. Told me to give it a few days, latest a week and it will be available. Claimed it was in the process of updating in the system. Will try again on Wednesday.

NVC received my case 8/3 and I called today (8/17) (I've been calling everyday...) and they just assigned my case number and invoice number. The guy was very nice, but told me I wouldn't be able to fill out the choice of agent (DS-261) until I received the welcome letter. That was totally NOT true. I logged onto CEAC 1 minute after getting off the phone and was able to fill it out immediately.
