Hi Jaysis.

Congrats for the visa.

I got CC yesterday and now waiting for medical and interview letter from Mumbai consulate. Is there any document to be submitted from US from this step onwards ? How long it took for the medical checkup ?

Hi jojo777,

After you get the interview letter in email, you should schedule the medical soon. NVC doesn't require any documents from you at this point. At the interview, you will bring originals and copies and the consulate will keep some copies of documents they may need. Medical checkup, once you schedule and attend, it will be about 6 hours to get the results on same day in hand.

Schedule biometrics at least 1 day before interview @

For the interview, do you really need originals AND copies? I don't understand why it says to bring originals and photocopies... :(

Hi Daniel, you MUST present Originals at the Interview! The officer who is giving you the interview (most likely) will ask you for them. The reason is that the Officer that is conducting the interview would like to have in hand the Original Certificate. For example, Birth, Marriage, Police, etc. It could be just to check out the validity of the case. (don't know for sure).. The photocopies of the Originals are to be taken because the Officer might decide to keep them, and return the Originals to you.

It is recommended that whatever you have sent to USCIS and NVC must be presented in the interview, both Originals and Photocopies, plus anything else that states on your interview letter (P4). That way you are over prepared for anything the Officer might ask you for. (The can truly ask for ANY document, and ask ANY question they want). Good luck to you! :)

Thanks Jayisis.

Few questions for you:

How long it took you to get email from embassy? It will be 1 week tomorrow for me. I hope i get letter by this weekend. What you say ?

Do we have to get medical appointment ? or they will schedule for us ?

Same for biometrics, do we have to schedule biometrics appointment ? or they will schedule for us ?

Thanks again.

When you ask about email from embassy, are you asking regarding the interview letter? The only email I received from Mumbai consulate was when the visa was on the way to the pickup location and after when we picked up the visa.

1. NVC will be the one to send the interview letter. I got it on Sept 21 from AskNVC@state.gov ... I believe it was due to my request to the operator that I need to confirm my email is in file.

2. You will need the P4 interview letter from #1 to schedule the medical appointment on your own. No one will schedule the medical appointment on your behalf. There is a pdf of approved physicians that you can choose from. E.g. Amrita...hospital if you are in South India. http://www.aimshospital.org/

3. As with the medical appointment, you will have to choose the biometrics day on your own (VAC appointment at your convenience) at least a day before the visa interview. cgifederal.secure.force.com
