A question for those that have submitted documents to the NVC:

DId you submit simple photocopies or did you get the copies certified or notarized? I know DOS website says photocopies and makes no mention of certified copies, but I have seen mixed opinions regarding what kind of copies to submit the the NVC.

Just want to make sure we don't get a checklist over something like this. Is certified copy same as notarized copy?

For most of your copies of documents, you just need photocopy...

If you need translations or written affidavits of any kind, you will need to get it certified by notary and send that copy instead.

So upset Our case is not completed yet. Apparently they are missing my police certificates and my birth certificate, which is just stupid!!! They were in the AOS package along with the marriage certifcate and 2 pictures of me!

We called NVC and asked to talk to a supervisor. The lady was nice and said that she will ask the people that reviewed our papers to re-open the file and see if the documents are completely missing or it's just something wrong with them.

I told her that i'm 110% sure that I sent those documents and that our case number is on every single paper, on the right top corner. She couldn't tell me though when to call back but i'm freaking calling tomorrow and will be bugging them.

Hubby is reading right now online that you can actually request for expedite if NVC are losing your papers. Any of you did that before? Did it work? I'm so disappointed right now

Did you put your Police certificates and birth certificates in AOS package or IV? I know it's better if you separate those packages with different envelope so NVC officer wouldn't get confused. I hope they are just being clumsy and didn't see that your PCC and birth certificate are actually there.

I never heard of expedite because NVC are losing your papers so I can't really help you. Anyone?

As maniput said, i think the problem might be because it was not with the IV package contents... Hope you can get them to resolve their carelessness quickly. By the way, did you sideload? I wonder if they split up the packages to have multiple officers review simultaneously..you have a very good argument for having them expedite, however over phone might be more convincing Edited October 5, 2015 by jayisis

Then both of them were put in a bigger envelope with the cover sheet on top of them. I know i've done everything right, that's what's so frustrating, cause we checked, double checked and triple checked! PCC and birth certificates are supposed to be in IV package. Maybe the officer was trying to move them to your IV package bundle but lost it. Try to call NVC and ask for expedite if you are sure that they can do that in case of losing docs. Agree with jayisis, over the phone is much more convincing.

Oh that's actually right. They might examine the packages separately by two different officers, that's why she got RFE.

I still haven't received my IV fee invoice yet. It's been 3 weeks since i got my DS261 reviewed over the phone. I already sent my AOS and IV packages. Anyone else in the same boat ?

Thanks for the advice @jayisis and @maniput. Will definitely call again tomorrow and try to get them to check again our case. I did mention to the supervisor that all our documents have the case # on the top right corner so hopefully they'll be able to track them down Hubby is leaving in 2 days and this news dropped like a bomb on us today... Now the even bigger uncertainty of when we'll be together again, is killing both of us. I hate this whole process!

Hey guys just got off the phone with NVC and they confirmed a CC on friday October 2nd with a scan date of September 14th, I did get a checklist though for my 2014 W2 so will be giving that to my wife for her Interview when i go back there.

My husband also sent me new updated I-864ez form and 2014 tax return (although we've sent them in the AOS package) for my interview since NVC mentioned it in my P4 letter. No worry. Hope you'll get interview date soon!

It took around 15 days for me from filling out DS-261 to IV bill. But only 4 days after DS-261 got reviewed. Have you called them again? Sometimes it could be an error in their system. I've read someone who couldn't pay IV fee (or maybe AOS) for a month and then he requested for expedite and granted, so he paid the rest of the bill and submitted AOS and IV package on interview day.

Yes, I called them and they say case is under document review processing because I sent AOS and IV package without waiting for IV invoice. Now they say I have to wait until document review is done. I'm worried now if I'd get checklist for IV fee and how much that would set us back
