Congratulations! Hope you get an interview date soon. Our scan dates are 9th September but we have 3 cases so I'm expecting to wait a tad longer than people with single cases. You've made me hopeful it won't be long, though!

Hi Helz Belz,

I'm sorry to hear that having 3 cases is delaying you. Are you checking the CEAC page regularly for the 3rd N/A for all cases? Each case is supposed to be reviewed separately and just merged after CC. The NVC has given me a lot of pain, but if there was one thing in which they were reasonable and fast was regarding my daughter's case. I got my 3rd N/A on a Friday - I called them on a Monday and by Tuesday they had already reviewed my daughter's case as well.

My understanding is because she's a child there aren't many documents to review beyond what they did for the spouse - the income is the same, and a child does not need police reports.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck!

Hi all,

Just to tell you my story... remember when I saw my third N/A just 10 days after sending my documents? I called NVC and they said that yes, they reviewed my documents, but I had to wait a little bit because my daughter's case was not reviewed yet.

So I called the NVC over and over and they eventually reviewed my daughter's case a couple of days later - third N/A for her as well.

But then, I never got a CC letter - or an interview, even though Brazil is not a busy embassy.

So I started calling them and I ended up figuring out the problem was that I applied with Electronic Processing. With EP, apparently, they do not send physical documents to the embassy, but they send the files electronically. And for some reason, my case was stalled because they did not scan my I-130 they received from the USCIS.

My husband and I bothered them so much I eventually got the direct line of the person responsible for this - but after I talked to her it took 14 days to have it scanned. She said they have buckets of 5,000 I-130s to be sorted out (-not lying-).

The good news is, yesterday I got my real CC - that was exactly 35 days after my scan date.

I'm going to try to talk to moderators and get this information known to all - I thought applying through Electronic Processing would make things easier for the NVC, but apparently they are not ready for it. My case was stalled for more than 25 days after documents review just because there was no one to scan my I-130. Come to think of it, it's pathetic.

So, if you know anyone who's considering applying with Electronic Processing, advise them against it. I know a few others from Brazil and Canada who are in the same situation as me.

Right now I am only hoping I will get an interview in Rio soon! I can't wait to finally be with my husband - this year has just been too rough.

Wow this is really making me worry now. We sent EP on September 7th. Everytime I call they can't even tell me if they got my stuff yet and say I need to wait 35 days for them to review.

Do you think I should be worried or should they be able to have me done and scanned in like 35 days? I regret doing EP now. I was hoping to be moving by the end of the year....

Hi everyone.

Please I need help, I and my hubby got an email from NVC on Sept 23rd stating a checklist on 2 documents that is my birth certificate and that we need a joint sponsor on Affidavit of support and below the checklist it was stated that my hubby should not send the additional Affidavit of support to NVC because it will delay our case but my hubby should send it to me so that I can present it at the embassy during my interview.

But my question is will NVC still send my case to the Embassy and schedule my interview despite the checklist because since then we haven't hear from NVC. What do we do now, please advice. Thanks and God bless

If they said that you don't need to bring it then they should be scheduling it for an interview. But depending on the country interviews can take a while. But you could call them and ask to be sure.

Hiya

Well it's not exactly delaying us, it has just seemed so far that all of our applications have been processed together and we got NOA2 a couple of days after others with the same scan date, we took a little bit longer than most to get our case numbers but then got them all together, and I've assumed it's because they've been good with keeping our cases together.

NVC have assured us that all our cases are linked and they will do their best to keep them together, they are reviewed as individual cases but they try to keep them together so that interviews are scheduled together. It's only 21 days since ours were scanned in so not worried yet!

We were a bit confused about what to send for the kids for NVC, you can't really prove a relationship with paper lol but hopefully we're almost done now :)

I think it's weird they haven't acknowledged the receipt of your documents after three weeks. For physical documents they usually do it within a couple of days. For my EP cases, 9 days for me and 12 for my daughter's. I called them everyday about it because it worried me too.

On their website, NVC says they need 30 days for reviewing documents, not 35 or 42 (they come up with all kinds of arbitrary numbers). I think you can safely call on October 7 and ask to speak to a supervisor about your case. Supervisor review is not necessarily bad if it's not related to a checklist - my daughter's case ended up locked twice and they fixed it fast, and the same for her document review.

As I said, I know a few other Brazilians and Canadians who are also in a blackhole because of EP - but they have been kind of shy to call diligently. I know it's stressful to call the NVC, but unless we stay on top of it, things hardly move... especially for EP.

I see. They told me the same thing about our cases being judged together, but in reality they approved mine first - and I had to push them to look into hers too - but it worked. Maybe it's because I had to send separate emails for our cases, while I understand you might have sent a single package with documents for all the 3, so it's a lot easier to review them all together.

Regarding kids' documentation, I sent my divorce decree saying I had her full custody and had the ability to move abroad with her without her biological father's permission, and I also sent an authorization from him allowing me to leave Brazil with her. I did it because I saw some checklists for it in the past and because I know Brazil is very strict when it comes to travelling internationally with kids.

You need to confirm if you have case complete when you call. Do you have 3 N/As at the CEAC website? In my case, I have a police report from the wrong police department in Brazil - the NVC told me I should present the correct one at the embassy, but that I was fine with them.

I was going to send in my court order, but was advised it was more for the interview, so I left it. Hope we don't get a checklist for that :( Yes I'm expecting that mine will be approved first and then we'll be calling about the kids. We did send a package to them, so I guess we'll just have to see if it's any different. We sent them in one mailing envelope, but each case in its own envelope inside that, with a label on each for the name, DOB, case number and related case numbers, in the hope they'll take the hint and just keep them together for the same reviewing officer haha

Yeah every time I have called they told me that it is normal and they can't see if they got it because for EP they don't see it till someone works on it. And I asked about automatic reciept and they told me it is hit or miss.

I guess I try to call tonight. I'm worried they will tell me that I never got it and when I sent it, it takes 35 more days :(

Hi, don't worry too much about getting a checklist. My impression is that the NVC is a lot more lenient than it used to be.

Actually I made a mistake in my documents (the embassy in BR wanted a report from a different police department than the one I got mine from) and I got a call from NVC today asking for me to bring it to the interview, instead of giving me a checklist. I think that unless you forgot a crucial document like income proof or marriage certificate, they let it pass.

Let me know how it goes!
