My fiancee just called me from the Japanes Consulate in Manila Philippines and said that they need a request from the U.S. Embassy in order for her to get a police clearance from Japan. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to get the clearance for her? The representative said that it will take 2 to 3 month's to get the clearance processed and if we wait until her packet 3 arrives before she calls the U.S. Embassy to get a request that will put her interview date very late. We haven't even received NOA2 yet, but we want to get ahead of the game.

Thanks

Hi country boy,

i accompanied my cousin last month and she has the same problem. they lived in japan for two years since she's married to a US navy serviceman. your fiancee needs to go to the US embassy to request for that clearance. the embassy will entertain inquiries at 2pm mon to thurs (not sure) we went there monday 11am and were told to go back at 2pm which we did and at the information the girl made the request (she needs to wait for it) and give it back to jap embassy (it's just a one ride by fx). the only complication is she will have to wait for two months for the release of the clearance. i hope this will work.... good luck!

Do you know what she needs to bring along with her to the embassy to make the request? case number? copy of 129f? nothing at all?

Thanks again

If your fiancee lives in Japan and you get the approval for the I-129, then they will send her a package telling her what she needs to bring to the interview. My fiancee is in Kawasaki City. I had her call the police there to ask how long it will take since our I-129 was approved already we are waiting for the package to come to her. They told her to bring in the letter from the packet and that after that it would take about 1 week. I do not know if it is different if they are not Japanese citizens or not. I hope this helps.

Update ..

Once the US Embassy / Manila receives the Case Number from the NVC you can call them at

011-63-2-528-6300 press 7 that you know the extension then enter 5184# (very helpful, great english)

I as the petitioner called personally and explained that it takes so long to get the Police Clearance from Japan that I would like to get the "request for police clearance" for Mylene as soon as possible so that we can get it started. She said made a note to the electronic information and said that Mylene should be at window X at exactly 1:00 p.m. to get the request.

Mylene then went to the Japanese Consulate (took a number and waited for 45 minutes) and presented the request to the representative at the window. He presented her with 3 forms to fill out for requesting the police clearance and instructed her to go to Camp Crame (on Esda Street in Quezon City) to get her fingerprints taken then to return with the paperwork from Camp Crame and from the Consulate Completed. At this point the waiting begins (it is reported to take 2 to 3 months to get the police clearance from Japan)

I will reply to this thread with the total costs for fingerprinting and police clearance when she returns today.

Sorry for the double post but I forgot to mention some important information about the process ..

I as the petitioner called personally and explained that it takes so long to get the Police Clearance from Japan that I would like to get the "request for police clearance" for Mylene as soon as possible so that we can get it started. She made a note to the electronic information on the case and said that Mylene should be at window X at exactly 1:00 p.m. with her passport/ID to get the request.

Mylene arrived at the USE at 12:15 she had to leave her cell phone at a cafe down the road, and throw her cigarettes and lighter away (BTW the guard wasn't going to let her into the embassy at all until she explained to him that I called the embassy personally and that she was instructed to be at Window X at exactly 1:00 p.m. .. then there wasn't a problem) She was entertained at approximately 2:30 p.m ..

At window X the representative told her that she could not entertain her until she had received her pre-interview letter once again Mylene explained that I had called the embassy that morning and that the representative that I spoke with told her to be there at exactly 1:00 p.m The representative then took our case number and looked at Mylene's passport and asked her to sit down. After several minutes the representative returned and called her name, she then presented Mylene with a document explaining that a note had been added to her G-325 (geographical data sheet) requiring a police clearance from Japan due to the dates that she was working there, as well as a request for police clearance to present to the Japanese Consulate ...

Mylene then went to the Japanese Consulate, took a number, and waited for 45 minutes. When they called her number she presented the request for police clearance to the representative at the window. The Representative then gave her 3 forms to fill out requesting the police clearance and instructed her to go to Camp Crame (on Esda Street in Quezon City) to get her fingerprints taken then to return with the paperwork from Camp Crame and from the Consulate Completed.

Due to the late appointment times, long waits times, and heavy traffic .. it took Mylene 2 days to get this process completed .. the traffic in Manila is very bad on Wednesdays and Fridays so try to avoid those days if possible.

At this point the waiting begins (it is reported to take 2 to 3 months to get the police clearance from Japan)

I will reply to this thread with the total costs for fingerprinting and police clearance when she returns today.
