In April we will be traveling to the UK for a couple of weeks and we would like to know which documents are recommended to carry in order to show the border officers. Not just for the UK citizen (for entry into the US) but also the US citizen (for entry into the UK). Just to clarify my wife is the UK citizen and she will be traveling using her EAD/AP combination card. As for myself I'm just curious to know if only taking the marriace certificate would suffice for the British border officers.

If anyone has specifically gone to the UK during AOS, it would be nice to hear from you. Though I do appreciate any insight.

Thanks for the help!

USC: US passport that matches name on ticket.

UKC: UK passport that matches name on ticket; AP to re-enter US.

A marriage certificate will only be needed if for some reason someone's name on a ticket doesn't match a travel document.

Agree with above. If her passport is in the maiden name, it is easier at the airline counters to have a ticket booked in the same name. They told us at Heathrow if the passport didn't match the ticket, then the marriage license could clear up the name difference. Just one less thing to explain when passport/ticket match.

Also they said at the immigration line at Heathrow that the USC could go through the UK/EU line with the spouse, rather than going through the visitor line alone.

Awesome, thank you both for the replies it's a ton of help. Her British passport has her maiden name, so we will book the ticket in like manner. Will there be any issue on rentry to the US using the maiden name? Her EAD/AP card has her married name.

Take the marriage certificate as a proof of name change if needed at reentry.
