We got noa 2 on jan 23. I checked and saw that they sent my stuff to state department(nvc?) on jan 28. How long does it typically take nvc to process and send to embassy as well as send packet to your house with further instruction.(we only received noa2 acceptance letter so far...no instructions packet)...Also I am confused by looking at k1 flow chart. It says we must send further documents into embassy but when I look at my countries sample packet insructions online it says only to gather them all to bring to interview. What documents do you send to embassy(or nvc need clarification on this as well) before interview? I was under the assumption that only the doctors appointment info must be sent before and all others are to be brought to interview including birth cert, police record and i134 financial documents. Please some one help me clear these issues up.

K-1 applicants send nothing to the NVC. The petitions are just passed through the NVC in a matter of day(though it can take weeks to even reach the NVC to begin with), given a case number and sent onto the appropriate consulate.

Different consulates have different procedures and requirements. Follow your consulate's instructions. If it states to bring those documents to the interview, then that is what you do.

You can contact your consulate to ask if they send out an instructions packet or not, and when you would receive yours.

I noticed the Mexican K1 requires you to go to applicant service center first?? I looked up the Honduras one and it did not say anything about that. It just said to take the ds160 and then proceed to interview with usual list of evidence? This is so confusing

I found the Honduras k1 instructions and it seems to be slightly different from Mexico. They do not require a visit to "applicant service center" , it only requires to fill online ds160 and print out to bring to interview along with everything else on the list. Correct me if I am wrong but nothing in this packet from Honduras mentions mailing anything to embassy.

Pay attention to Greece, if that's your consulate. Go atop any VJ page, click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy," and read for pertinent instructions.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yes, as I said, different consulates have different procedures and requirements. Honduras does the fingerprinting when you interview at the consulate(http://www.ustraveldocs.com/hn/hn-niv-photoinfo.asp). Mexico used to do that years ago, but now you must get them done ahead of time at a separate appointment. If you are interviewing in Honduras, then the instructions for Mexico don't matter for you.

Those instructions for Honduras state to bring all those things with you to the K-1 visa interview, so nothing is mailed to them ahead of time. It also tells you what you need to schedule your interview on the http://www.ustraveldocs.com/hn/website.
