Hi everyone,

I just recently sent in all the forms for the I-129f application. My fiancé lives in Vietnam, and I sent her an email talking about what we should do next to get ready for the interview. So I was just wondering how long would it be before we would have to schedule her interview. I have received the receipt with the number and everything. I was just curious as to when things would start to move forward. Thanks for your help.

Ah ok. Sounds like we will have a long wait.

Yes you will. Unfortunately TSC is slow. Please don't get irritated at the people who have I-129F petitions being processed at CSC. They will routinely have 4-8 week NOA2's, if not faster. It is not their fault. I just want to brace you now for what could be bad or hurt feelings about that. Please just think of the approx 8 month processing time you will have as extra prep time, extra time to be in a better financial situation, & extra time to get to know your fiance(e) to ensure this is right for you both & this is really what you want to do. That's what I did, & my now-wife & I are very happy to finally be together. Honestly, we needed the time we had, primarily financially, but it also helped my then-fiancee emotionally to have plenty of time to say bye to her family & friends.

200 days is approximately the current average wait time from NOA1 to NOA2. If you're asking about the interview date, you can add another 3 months or so to that number, depending on the country your fiancée lives in. I don't know if Vietnam is faster or slower than average.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.
